Antoine Cason - Why is the Staff so low on him? (1 Viewer)

Antoine Cason has had a good start this season for San Diego, but the staff still has very low projections for him every week...Any reasoning behind this?

I would bet becuase he doesnt play full time and the Chargers are not going to be in a shootout every week as they have weeks 1,2,3. Raiders esp. do not provide a good day for tackles unless im not seeing something

Cason is a very nice player. Not to speak for Norton, but there are two confounding factors here. First, Cason is the nickel back and subject to significant variability as a result. Second, looking at the numbers after the fact, the Chargers have faced a crazy number of pass attempts and tackle chances on pass completions vs rush attempts -- over 70% vs a historical average of closer to 55-60% if I'm remembering correctly.

Jene, realistic, how long do you think before Cason becomes a Starter? Or do the chargers plan on keeping their 1st rd pick as a Nickel back forever? Just wondering since I'm in a dynasty league...

To the contrary, the Chargers O is able to score points and so I think that will force other teams to throw, a lot. I agree though that week 4 is not the week to start any Charger DB.

Cromartie isn't going anywhere. Jammer is signed through 2012 (though he gets a sizable base salary bump this offseason) and playing well. Hard to see Cason breaking into that rotation without an injury.
