It means we're screwed. He does not get redzone targets. Unless that changes, he will maybe get 1-2 TDs from here on out.The responses to your poll, save for the first one, make no sense at all. The first two responses are identical. The third has nothing to do with whether he'll score TDs as people who catch a ball outside the redzone can still score a TD. What the hell is other supposed to mean? Other than what?

I had him starting the first 5 weeks. He's on my bench now, though. I don't get the whole lack of RZ targets but I guess that's Jackson's job now.It means we're screwed. He does not get redzone targets. Wow. Swing and a miss there. Was trying to inject a little humor. Try re-reading it and looking for the humor (and frustration). He does not get redzone targets. I see a poll lacking any possible attempt at humor and a post which says discuss. Where is the supposed humor?Wow. Swing and a miss there. Was trying to inject a little humor. The humor is the fact that the Op is frustrated by the fact that Fat ### Gates can't get his Fat ### in the endzone and he started a poll that leaves very little option but to vote that he won't get his Fat ### in the endzone going forward.I see a poll lacking any possible attempt at humor and a post which says discuss. He's doing fine for me in PPR. Not the number one TE but in the top three or four. I am ok with that.

#2 TE in my league (PPR).He's doing fine for me in PPR. Not the number one TE but in the top three or four. I am ok with that.

Easy to bench that...I have Celek.Actually, no longer benching Gates...traded him. He's on pace to finish with 1200 yards receiving......as a tight end.How could you bench that? TDs would be nice, but they're flukey and could come at any time. The guy gets more points out of his yardage alone than most guys do when you combine all their stats.
Well, considering Gates is currently TE4 even in non-ppr leagues, I'm guessing most don't have a TE that is outperforming him sitting on the bench. Also, in spite of Gates' lack of TDs Celek currently has a whopping 3 more points than him. When you're looking at two guys who have essentially the same amount of points, I'll take the guy getting the yards and needing the TDs over the opposite any day. TDs are flukey and more likely to change from week to week. Yards are not.Gates, as a TE, has had ONE game this entire season under 50 yards, and in that game he had 49. Celek has done it in almost half his games, and got most of his yards with Kevin Kolb at the helm, who is no longer there.sho nuff said:Easy to bench that...I have Celek.Actually, no longer benching Gates...traded him.FreeBaGeL said:He's on pace to finish with 1200 yards receiving......as a tight end.How could you bench that? Have them bothTE5 in FBGs scoring, 2nd among TEs in receptions, 2nd among TEs in yards. Just like with Steven Jackson... the talent is there, the opportunities are there, the yardage is there, the TDs will come. In the meantime, he's producing just fine without them.

Yeah, Vincent Jackson is a huge red zone threat since like one of the announcers said, the team just likes to throw the ball up there and let their tall receivers grab it. If LT can score more TDs like he did yesterday then it looks even harder for Gates to score a TD. Or maybe it will be easier since they could always do the old LT to Gates TD. However, yesterday the Eagles shut down VJax and that should be the plan going forward since he has clearly shown everyone he is a dominant WR this year and most teams hate being beat deep and should be willing to give up more shorter players to Gates. He will have big games as long as Vincent Jackson grabs all the attention. No need to worry just because he isn't dominating. He's doing enough to get by.He's had probably a handful of catches where he was brought down inside the 5. I think he'll have 3 or 4 more TD's by season's end. Not the machine he once was in the red zone, but I think we have VJax (and a host of other huge WR's) to thank for that. Gates is still a very good red zone target, but apparently VJax and company are great red zone targets. He is on pace for a career year in receptions and yardage, so even in a non-ppr league, I'm happy with his production thus far.
Pretty sad when you have a TE that is 6'5 265 that runs like a gazelle and can jump through the ceiling that you never target him in the red zone.Tackled at the one again, way to cost me the playoffs FATASS!

I think he owns the season record for most times tackled inside the 5. That's 4 for sure. He's the Michael Irvin of San Diego. Catch the long pass, run out of bounds at the 1 so Tomlinson can steal his glory.2009 (Games 1-10)RB 73WR 22TE 062008 (Games 1-10)RB 57WR 27TE 152007 (Games 1-10)RB 46WR 17TE 16
So is Witten ever gonna get a target in the endzone again (let alone a score)?Remember a couple of weeks ago when everyone was wondering whether SJax would score a TD this year? Like I always say, the TDs eventually follow the yards.
See my post a few above yours.WR Red Zone targets are actually down after 10 games compared to last year.RB RZ targets are up from 57 to a whopping 73 over the first 10 Chargers games.I've said it many times. VJax and other tall WRs are killing his TD production. VJax is basically the same size but faster, thinner and can jump higher. I think Chris Chambers was also a victim of VJax being such a great target.
yes, it's a big day and it's much needed for all of his owners. But let's keep this in mind, they are playing the Chiefs.Too many people, including FBG's give too much credit to players who are eating up poor defenses. I can't tell you how many times I see upgrades to players who are just coming off playing the Lions. Then the next week when they play an average team, it's back to the same old thing and people are surprised.Gates is an excellent tight end and you have to get yours against teams like KC or Detroit or the Rams. I'm just saying, keep it in perspective here. It's not like he's eating up a top notch team where when you do that, you can do it against anyone. He's a must start on anyone's team, but it's not some coincidence he woke up today, the Chiefs defense stinks.Much needed big day from Gates - looking like a force again.
I think that one belongs to Steve Smith last season. Didn't he go down like 6 times on the 1 alone?I think he owns the season record for most times tackled inside the 5. That's 4 for sure. Wasn't his other big day against the Steelers? It seems to me as though Gates has been getting the ball occasionally throughout the game, but then when it's clutch time he gets it like 70% of the time. Every time the half or game winds down and they try to score or need a comeback, it looks like every other pass goes his way.I don't know how statistically accurate that is, but that's just the feeling I get when I watch SD playyes, it's a big day and it's much needed for all of his owners. Gates is on pace for his best season ever in both catches and yards.I agree with you - but this guy is nothing if consistent this year with catches and yards. He has also had two monster weeks, with his 4 tds coming in those weeks. I wouldn't be surprised to see him nab a couple more.yes, it's a big day and it's much needed for all of his owners. This guy knows things.the TDs eventually follow the yards.
I have a feeling the big day comes to a halt here as they open up a big lead. We'll see but the guy is a beast.Gates = Clutch. Just when we need our players to produce the most this guy turns the corner... 167 yards so far against the Browns.
