“Let me tell you something – that dude is scary,” Arizona free safety Antrel Rolle said of Rodgers. “We have a great defense, and we were up on him and ready to pounce, and he found ways to tear us apart.

“I don’t ever want to face him again in my life. I am dead serious. I’ll face Drew Brees any day of the week before I face him again.”

makes me feel a lil better after that loss

Bulletin Board Material? :goodposting:

Rodgers looked very fast last night too. I thought he was sacked a few times and he was able to get to the edge and beat the DE to pickup key 1st downs.

Pretty sure Drew Brees would've hit a wide open Greg Jennings in OT to win the game.
Brees also wouldn't have made some of the plays Rodgers made; he isn't as mobile and good at making plays after scrambling and running around as Rodgers is. Not saying Rodgers is a better QB right now, but he does do some things better. That aside, even in defeat, Rodgers was magnificent. Sure, he made a few costly mistakes, but he put 45 points on the board. 99.999 times out of a million, that will get you a win.

I think its a more of a compliment to Rodgers than "disrespect" to Brees. And the Saints shouldn't need any bulletin board material. They should already be fired up for this game.

So you'll only win .009% of the time?

As a Bears fan, watching that game scared me. Even with his holding the ball a bit too long at certain times (and he seems better about that now than he did at the beginning of the year) Rodgers looks like a tremendous QB. Considering how terrible the line was at times this year, I would say GB has no where to go but up and that is largely because they still have a franchise QB for years to come. There was no question in my mind that GB would win that game when they got the ball to open OT and if not for a pretty flukey play they probably do. Rodgers started that game out HORRIBLY, but the way he bounced back and played so well after such a bad start is exactly the kind of thing you have to want in a QB. It pains me to see that he looks as good as he does. Hopefully his record against the Bears will not end up as lopsided as Favres was.

I believe this is incorrect. Hold on let me get out some paper..

I stopped right there. :goodposting: D. Brees probably doesn't need this, but it may be good material for the o-line.

I knew I shouldn't have used that Inglorious Basterds quote there. :goodposting:
I do agree with you though. Rodgers did an excellent job under the pressure he was getting in the pocket. We all know Warner would've folded had the Packers been able to get to him even half as much. Brees has had trouble under pressure this year as well.

This is how I perceive his remarks also. He just came out of a very wild, tightly contested game and was giving due respects to his opponent.I also agree with the rest of your post. Bulletin board material takes a player until the first time he gets popped in the mouth. The Saints have all the motivation they need, and this quote is not among that motivation.

He left out that Rodgers didn't even complain about the fact that he on the receiving end of multiple uncalled personal fouls in OT. Look, as a Bears fan I am far from a Packer-backer, but to let flagrant face mask and Illegal shot to the head fouls go simply becuase "it's the playoffs" or "home calls" is ludicrous. When I saw it I was actually shocked that Packer fans weren't screaming like crazy about it all over these boards...unless I missed a thread.

With all due respect to Rolle, Brees just set the NFL record for completion percentage in a season. Rogers is quickly becoming an elite quarterback, but the Saints are going to look at what the Packers did to Mike Adams and do exactly the same thing. I would be shocked if Brees doesn't light up the Cardinals.

Rodgers can fit the ball into ridiculously small windows.

That throw to Jennings on the sideline (not the TD) was ridiculous. Also a great catch, but when Rodgers released that ball I thought for sure it would be a possible INT. He put it exactly where it needed to be.

I was thinking the same thing. Jennings was wide open and Rodger's just didn't deliver. Also, the two plays that killed GB have to be laid at Rodger's feet: the early INT that set up the first AZ TD, and the fumble at the end of the game that lost it. Throw in that missed pass to Jennings and it is easy to see that Rodger's choked. He is the classic kind of player who can make great plays but who will also kill you.

I have to point out that there is a lot of self-serving personal promotion in that remark: after all, the AZ defense looked absolutely horrendous. So, EITHER Rodger's is the greatest QB since Joe Montana OR AZ pass defense SUCKS--which doesn't make Rolle look very good.

The most astonishing thing about Rogers is that he has not become shellshocked or developed happy feet after playing behind a sieve of an O-line in the first half of the season (37 sacks in the first 8 games). That sort of battering has finished off far more experienced NFL QBs than him.

I know Rodgers is taking the heat for it, but go look at the replay of this.Play at around the 9:05 mark

On the slow mo replay from behind you see Jennings start to straighten his route.....was Rodgers expecting him to keep with the post pattern instead of straightening the pattern out? Seems to me if Jennings would have stayed in the same post pattern the ball may have hit him in the numbers.

:lmao:

Rodgers is taking some crap for that throw but did anyone actually watch the replay from the endzone angle? It looked like Jennings' fault to me, if not fully then at least partially. When Jennings made his cut his route was fairly flattened out, he was basically running a shallow post (more towards the sidelines than upfield). Rodgers wound up to throw and as he was doing that Jennings' changed his route and cut into more of a skinny post, headed mostly upfield (and right back at the defender). If Rodgers had thrown the ball where Jennings was headed it would have been covered, as Jennings had cut right back into the defender. He only appeared wide open again when he adjusted after the ball came out to go get it, since it was headed where he was going initially (to the wide open side of the field).

Agree. The way Rodgers was throwing the ball, it's hard to believe he would have been that far off the mark. Looks like Jennings changed his route.Either way, Rodgers played like a warrior. Guy is scary good and he is just getting started. Makes me sick to think that SF could have had him instead of Alex Smith, and at a much cheaper price too.........

Ya, it's a compliment to don't be mistaken, it's definately a disrespect to Brees. Put yourself in Brees situation, you're at home sitting around and then you hear something like that? If that's you, you don't think that would catch your attention when you didn't do anything to deserve it? Come on.Personally, I think it's dumb to say something about the QB you're going to be playing in the upcoming week.

Go further and look at Rodgers quotes after the game.He does not complain about the calls...takes it on himself that he made mistakes and started slowly.

Love having him as QB of the Packers right now.

Choked?Hilarious. He was one of the most careful guys with the ball all year long...so to give him a line about being one who will also kill you is downright laughable.

Maybe...but Rodgers twice had him open deep...and twice he gunned it rather than putting a little air under it and lofting it.And he has done the same thing several times this year.

As you should. The guy is a great player, seems to be tough as nails, has a good attitude and seems like a great leader. There are only a couple of QB's in the league right now who I would think a person would want to start their franchise with ahead of him. I would not have thought that at the beginning of the season, but I certainly do now.

Just to play Devil's Advocate here on this throw: It's quite conceivable that Jennings broke the route too far to the inside on this play. It appeared the route was a double move that ended with a break to the post. From what I recall, Jennings seemed to bend the route a bit more towards the opposite hash than maintain more of a vertical direction down the middle of the field, which could easily explain why the ball was thrown slightly too high and behind the receiver. Either way, it was a close play that should have been completed for a score to end a classic duel. Rodgers has taken a ton of punishment this season and continues to get up and make plays few QBs can - that's what makes him scary. He just keeps comin'

:goodposting: Rodgers isn't perfect, few QBs are. But he is a remarkable QB that amazes me with his composure, toughness, consistency and big play ability almost everytime I watch him play. True franchise QB.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic but I'll bite. I don't think Brees should take any offense to what Rolle said. The Cards were abused in the 2nd half by Rodgers. 19/28 318 Yards 4 TD 0 INT 1 Sack 145.5 QB rating

That's Rodgers stat line for the second half alone. Those are ridiculous numbers for a game let alone one half of football. Elite QB's like Manning, Brady and Brees do not post those type of numbers on most days.
