Any H. Nicks owners concerned about his ankle (1 Viewer)

Ughh...nothing worse than having a player that's "iffy". Even if he does play, it's very possible that he aggravates it in the game and you end up with a goose egg or really low point total for him.

I'm going with a totally healthy player this week......Mr. Austin Collie.

FWIW, from Ralph Vacchiano (beat writer @ the New York Daily News):

WR Hakeem Nicks (ankle) is "headed in the right direction," Coughlin said.

Again, FWIW from Ralph Vacchiano (beat writer @ the New York Daily News):

Attention Fantasy Football players: WR Hakeem Nicks (ankle) says "I'm expecting to play" on Sunday night.

I hate late starts, picked up Manningham for the league I am planning on playing him in. Wouldn't want to risk it otherwise. Regardless of what is being said, you're playing with fire if you don't have anyone else on Sunday Night / Monday Night. Sitting him in two other leagues for Greg Jennings / Calvin Johnson.

Giants | Hakeem Nicks practicing Friday Fri Sep 17, 12:15 PM

New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (ankle) is participating in practice Friday, Sept. 17, and was looking good when running on the side as well as stopping and cutting while running, reports The Star-Ledger's Mike Garafolo.

Our view: It is unknown whether Nicks participated in the team portion of practice. Garafolo said his gut feeling is game-time decision for Nicks, which is difficult for your team unless you own Mario Manningham, or a receiver from Indianapolis, San Francisco, or New Orleans to have as a backup plan. More will be known about Nicks condition when the official injury report comes out.

Am I missing something? If you practice you play.

Hakeem Nicks (questionable, ankle) ran and made cuts without issue on the side of Giants practice Friday.

The beat writers say Nicks looks healthy, so his absence from the majority of Friday's practice reps may have been a precautionary move by the Giants' staff. It appears they're attempting to avoid setbacks while preparing Nicks to play on Sunday night. We'd still strongly advise fantasy owners to grab Mario Manningham, who would start if Nicks is a last-minute scratch.

He practiced today...why would the team practice him on Friday if he weren't going to play Sunday?

And you should be starting Welker over everyone, he is going to be the #1 WR this week

Seems like he's probably good to go but last week I started Steve Smigh NYG over him and lost by 3 points. BUT- if he's out i'd start Steve again, dang

New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks (ankle) did better Friday, Sept. 17, during practice, going through some plays and running around, according to head coach Tom Coughlin. 'Looks like he's headed in the right direction,' Coughlin said. However, Coughlin noted that he thinks Nicks will be a game-time decision for Week 2. 'We'll see how he is in the morning after he's done a little bit,' Coughlin said

In goes Mike Williams (TB) and out goes Nicks. NYG has a Sunday night game and I can't have a player who has a chance to be inactive.

:lmao: I'm benching him for Andre Johnson and 1987 Jerry Rice.
Jesus Christ is on my waiver wire....might pick him up and start him over Nicks.....still thinking it over.
Come on, after week 1 it looked like I would ride Nicks over Calvin Johnson the rest of the way with Stafford gone and Greg Jennings is actually behind Nicks on the cheatsheet this week. I can't be the only one who thinks Hakeem Nicks is good enough to be considered a starter over these two on some weeks.

OK, I'll ask one more time. He practiced today. Why would his team make him run and cut on an ankle that they weren't sure would be ready by Sunday?

Being "at" practice isn't the same thing as "participating" in practice.

You guys need to read a few more aricles if you just think he's good to go already.

He just stood around most of the practice and Coughlin admitted he'll be a game time decision.

I've seen other reports saying that he was not a full participant in practice and that he appeared to be slowed. Perhaps they practiced him to determine if he could go. There are certainly cases where players are partial participants in practice during the week then do not subsequently go on Sunday. Players often will say that they're fine when they are actually physically hampered and sometimes need to demonstrate fitness so that they do not exacerbate the injury. That's at least one answer to your question... :angry:edit: I'm a Nicks owner, but I have the luxury of having White and Jennings in front of him so he was sitting this week regardless....
