Have not seen any new news in a few days.

Whats happening, last I heard they were 6 mil off.

I als heard that Holmes is nowhere close to gme shape, basically a pawn for Peterson

KC sports radio listener here.

holmes = forget it.. will never play again.

johnson = still off, not in KC.. getting a bit worried, but see him signing the week of the season starting... offense is horrid without him.

Someone posted earlier today the KC radio was reporting that LJ was in KC?Also that Peterson was unavailable because he was at the LJ negotiation today.

Question for KC homers: will the KC offense be putrid with Larry Johnson?Everything I've read seems to suggest the KC offense is going to be in rough shape this year. Even with Larry Johnson. But I don't quite get that as the offense is not all that much different from last season and LJ had a fine year.

What's the real deal?

KFFL, Aug 19 - Randy Covitz, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson and the team remain at a stalemate over his demands for a new contract. He is working out on his own in Arizona. If his hold out were to continue into the season, he would have to return for at least five games to receive an accredited season, which would allow him to void the final two years of his contract and he would become an unrestricted free agent following the year.

And from an AP story, Aug 19 re: Priest...

"But with general manager Carl Peterson out of town -- reportedly attending to negotiations with holdout running back Larry Johnson, Holmes' status remained the same."

Nothing new, but in the spirit of glass half full, the report that Peterson might be attending negotiations sounds better than Peterson being back in KC doing nothing about this holdout.

It's been said in many other threads, but I think both sides know this needs to get done. KC has no offense without LJ and LJ runs the risk of getting hit with the franchise tag next year, among other downsides to a contract not getting done now.

This morning I was listening to Ronda Moss on 610 and she said LJ is now in the KC area. Ronda Moss is generally a very reliable source. I'm sure some other KC fans must have heard this too to verify.

Chris Mortenson reported tonight at halftime of MNF that KC and LJ were days away from getting the deal done. He said he thought as soon as Wednesday. Of course, Mort said they were a few days away several days ago. But Mort generally knows his stuff.I don't know how good of a season LJ is gonna have. But I think you can safely draft him as he'll play in Week 1.
