Any news on Devin Hester injury? (1 Viewer)

Just read that Hester left last night's game with a shoulder injury. Any Bears homers have insight as to the severity? Did it look like anything serious?

Answered my own question ...

Hester gives Bears a scareAugust 26, 2007By Gene Chamberlain Staff writerA hush fell over Soldier Field.Devin Hester lay on the turf three plays after electrifying the crowd with a 29-yard punt return in the Bears' third preseason game, this one against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday night.Hester took a knee to the shoulder while trying to make a block on a Cedric Benson run, but he was able to get up and run off the field. He left the game for good with a sore shoulder, but the injury appeared to be a minor one.Head coach Lovie Smith said Hester would be fine. The incident occurred on a night when Hester made his first start at wide receiver for Muhsin Muhammad, who was being rested because of a sore hamstring that's bothered him off and on throughout training camp.Hester caught a pass for a 3-yard gain on the Bears' second possession, two plays before suffering the injury.Hester has been all in favor of the move that put him on offense after he played special teams and defense last year. He doesn't consider it an unnecessary risk."I want to be that guy that they fear in the return game, and if I can translate that over to the receiving side of the ball; I just want to be that player that goes out and does what needs to be done and just go out and make good plays," Hester has said.Hester's replacements on punt returns fared poorly. Bernard Berrian called a fair catch at the Bears 20 with clear sailing ahead, then Drisan James muffed a punt at the Bears 6 and lost it, setting up San Francisco's first score.

My understanding is that he was held out the remainder of the game as a precaution, and could have returned if it were a regular season game.
