Any NFL backups worth rostering in 2QB dynasty league? (1 Viewer)

Obviously the top three QB rookies are worth getting as even if they're "backups" to start this year, they have a very clear path to a starting job and a decent chance at starter-level (QB24 or better) production.

Beyond those three (and possibly Derek Carr, although I'm personally down on him), are there any current NFL backups that are worth keeping? Primarily looking for a 2-3 year time frame since otherwise you might as well wait and get them on waivers in a year or two. And largely looking for starter potential (QB24 or better).

My short list is:

* Brock Osweiler: Manning is probably only playing for 2 years and it's pretty clear he's considered the heir apparent. Has great weapons around him, so seem him as no worse than a low-end QB2 even if he struggles.

* Mike Glennon: McCown won't keep him off the field for long.

* Ryan Mallet: I'm not sure he's anything more than a Matt Flynn-level talent, but he's been on the short list for trades and is a free agent next year. Someone like Houston might be tempted by him.

* Brandon Weedon: Assuming Orton retires, he's just one Romo injury away from starting with pretty decent weapons around him.

I'm sure I'm forgetting others and would love to hear other opinions.

Of those, the bolded above are who im most interested in. I think Glennon will be back in the starting role before long. Savage interests me more than Carr.

Really high on Thad Lewis as a zero cost sleeper. Combine Bloom's comments on Buffalo's offense with the injury/fail risk of EJ and it's a nice combo. The problems with Thad are height and arm, but in a fast break offense, who cares, if he can make the reads and get the ball out. (If you could combine EJ's strengths with Thad's it's a solid prospect.)

Sanchez is a nice player to get as a throw in or pick up for free if he was dropped. He'll be top 15 if Foles gets hurt, and if he looks good he could get a 2nd chance at starting somewhere.

If Keenum ends up winning the Houston job he's undervalued right now as he'll gunslinger up QB2 stats, probably, and O'Brien is a good situation for a young QB.

I'd actually sell all the guys in the OP.

Weeden - Is terrible. And old. He is 3 years older than Sanchez. Dallas will draft a QB eventually. He is the heir to nothing.

Mallet - The trade out of NE never happened. No one wants him enough to trade for him means he is a stop gap at best. You have to hope he comes out guns blazing with whatever team he latches onto next year, and I am not that confident in his ability.

Glennon - I think McCown keeps the job this year and going into next. They gave him the toys to properly set him up for success. He's the best of the 4 mentioned and better than the guys I listed but I would sell to someone who believed more.

Osweiler - Decent prospect but if he waits 2 years that is the full duration of his contract. I like Garappolo better as a prospect.

It depends on what youre looking for. If you want someone with a chance at starting this year:

For Redraft:

Vick/Geno

Manziel

Bortles

Keenum

Bridgewater

Glennon

If you are banking on injury well you can grab anyone pretty much.

David Fales: Seems like Cutler misses at least a game or two every year and the only guy that Fales has to beat out for the back up job is Jordan Palmer.

Logan Thomas : I know a lot of the draftniks were really down on him, but he may be the heir apparent to Carson Palmer and his rushing ability can't be overlooked for fantasy purposes. Could be a nice buy low, sell high if he gets a shot.

I own Nassib in a superflex league, but I'm starting to wonder if I should jump ship. He was labeled as a guy who may be able to develop into a future starter, but he looked horrendous in the preseason last year.

Fales - see below

Thomas - Cam Newton ceiling here... lots of raw talent and Carson Palmer should be close to collecting Social Security. QB-friendly offense.

Nassib is garbage, and so is Tajh Boyd if you wanna talk more about NY-based QBs.

Aaron Murray/Tyler Bray ( hard to see how the QB battle shakes out completely at this point)

- Play for pass happy coach/QB development guru

- Odds are the Chiefs will regress as a whole and defensively, meaning more shoot outs.

- Play in a division set up for shoot outs

- Alex Smith in contract woes

- Alex Smith won't throw the ball farther than 10 yards

- Bray is an artillery piece, the kid has a raw cannon and if he finds mojo with Bowe, that could be a lethal combination

- Usage of Charles might create injury or decline, might invite more passing

- IMHO, Murray was a little bit underrated as a whole, think he is a good systematic fit for Reid ( though not a great fit for a lot of other teams/systems)

I fully believe David Fales is one Cutler injury/fall over Kristin Cavalleri's failed acting career from being the sleeper QB1 of the entire fantasy season. Watching his tape, I think the kid is legit, and with his own QB guru coach and a lot of good weapons, plus a defense that has been in turmoil, you are looking at a guy who can lay some massive hurt if given the chance.
Love the Murray/Bray call. I think Smith is nothing more than a game manager. Always has been, never will be more. Him wanting more cash than he deserves - coupled with either young QB showing some promise - could open the door.

And also liking the Fales call. Pre-draft I thought it made sense for a team like Chicago or New England to draft this guy. He's smart, throws well on the intermediate routes and is highly coachable. As a Bears fan I loved the pick. Cutler seems feeble and I just don't see him playing out that contract.
