Any professional video editors here? (1 Viewer)

Devil's Advocate
I've been cutting and merging clips for awhile; No, not porn. Basic stuff but I've gotten quite good at it. My problem is with the audio. When I'm making a longer presentation, many different clips go into it and each clip has its own volume level. So when you play back the entire feature, the volume fluctuates, which is annoying. Is there a way for a novice like me to fix this in post-production? If not, can I upload the clip somewhere and then send it to a pro (ahem... one of you!) to fix it for me?

What program are you using to edit the videos? Most allow you to edit the audio timeline as well, to adjust the level for each clip.

One thing you can do as well- put a low level music bed in that runs the length of the final edit. It will help mask the varying noise floors and ambient noise in each clip. Nothing loud that takes away from the finished product, just a level and consistent track.

Thanks man, I'm just using a free video cutter and joiner that I found awhile ago on CNET. Everything is working beautifully except for the audio issues.

I'd like to know and be able to do more in this area as well. I'd think if you are good enough you might want to look into buying some software at a reasonable price so you're not working with freeware and the headaches those can bring.

How much does "decent" software cost in this area anyway?
