Any Sales Managers know of a good commission report generator SAAS that plays well with Quickbooks? (1 Viewer)

Climbing up the Walls
I know there are plenty of sales geeks here, looking for input...There are a good many API's out there, I'm looking for something that could be synced to Salesforce or Quickbooks and provide a report generator for 60-100 independent reps. Ideally, when the order is entered into QB, and a rep assigned to the order, it would keep a running total based on the % assigned, and auto-generate a monthly report that we could send off with payment to the rep agency.

Anyone have experience with such SAAS, or something similar?

It's hard to get a handle of exactly your best approach, but it sounds to me that you wish to use Quickbooks as a CRM, which is what Salesforce is for.   The reporting, workflow, etc should be handled within Salesforce therefore it seems to me that the orders should be managed from lead to order in Salesforce, and then entered into quickbooks.  I'm not sure of your business process(es) but I would definitely recommend the flow of data go from SF > QB.

As an example, once a contract is completed you can have a workflow fire off an email to whoever is administrator of your quickbooks with all the relevant details.  If sales are voluminous you can do things like create an autogenerated export that can be imported into QB.

I have 10 years experience in CRM's and have been working with SF for the past 5 years.. I do private consultations as well, so feel free to PM.

We'll be using SF to track sales channels, and record communications with prospects. I was thinking of QB>SF so that prospects don't get recorded in QB. We're using a service called Brandwise for gift reps to send us their orders, which will then be manually entered into QB. I'll be prospecting key accounts and chains, and recording notes in SF.  I'm also using SF so that retail orders through Shopify can flow into their own channel reports.

Ideally, I'm just looking to make commission reporting as easy as possible. i.e. line item totals for each rep for each month that can be auto-generated and sent to rep agencies with payment. I really don't want to manually handle this.

Thanks for your input, I might PM you if need be. I think SF is a bit of overkill, but the owner wants it for integration with Ringcentral, QB, among others.

You definitely wouldn't want prospects getting recorded in QB.   Salesforce is built around and has a robust set of tools to manage the lifecycle from Lead > Opportunity > Contract.   Line items and automated reporting are pretty simple to do with Salesforce.

Based on your use case, I'd suggest that an auto generated commission report would be sent to book keeper or admin for approval, and once approved an email blast of each rep's commission report would be sent from salesforce, and the commission transfers should be done via QB, which is what it is good for.   The key to all of this is to model your data correctly, have good input, and ability to import into quickbooks.   As I said in last post, if it is too laborious to manually enter orders into qb, then an automated import/export of csv data could be implemented or this https://quickbooks.intuit.com/salesforce/salesforce-integration-quickbooks/ which I've never used.

On a higher level, my recommendation would be to invest in some SF expertise to get your sales processes humming, and also get a book keeper

Yeah, I've used SF as an account executive for a couple of companies, but have never been in charge of setting it up until now. I'll be the only sales person in house, the rest will be handled by rep agencies, with them using Brandwise to send the orders directly to us. Those orders will have to be manually be added to QB for the time being (luckily not by me). I've looked at a few apps, and am narrowing down on one that works well with QB online. As long as it can generate a monthly report by agency, with individual rep totals per line item, we're good. From what I understand, it's pretty easy to do once you've created and linked the fields correctly.

I'll be sending the commission reports directly to the check writer after I approve, so I'm just looking to make the process smooth inbetween.

Thanks again for your input.

No problem.. I've seen quite a few cases where companies are shelling out big bucks for salesforce and simply don't use or know how to use it to maximize their investment.

It sounds like for those external sales, that the lifecycle is not managed by you so perhaps SF is a bit overkill for you.  Since you are the only internal salesman, if you are interested in evaulationg/tweaking/configuring etc salesforce you could get a completely free developer edition, which allows you two users along with some other limitations.  It is a great way to get your feet wet(ter) without the investment.

Good luck!

Really? I had no idea there was a developer edition. I'll have to check to see how well it plays with QB online. I was assuming I'd have to land the Professioinal edition, and use the app 'Autofy'. I'll dig into this a bit more, and make sure there isn't a better solution, or less costly on the QB app side.
