Any updates on '06 linebackers? (1 Viewer)

Seems like guys get forgotten quickly. I'm in the late rounds of a rookie dynasty draft but am allowed to draft current players not on rosters in addition to rookies.

Looking back at last year's draft class of rookie linebackers there seems to be some guys who haven't gotten much ink lately. I'm trying to ascertain if these guys are worth a pickup over a 5th or 6th rounder.

Ingram - I guess his situation is somewhat tied into Peterson's recovery. Even if Mike Pete isn't healthy my impression is that Daryl Smith would be the beneficiary. Any rosy outlook's out there for Ingram? Who would you take a flier on first .. Ingram or Justin Durant?

Alston ... completely disappeared off the radar. I've heard nothing about this guy. Any chance he wins the Rams weakside spot?

Greenway - where is he in his recovery. I've steered clear of Viking LB'rs in recent years but am curious to hear about his outlook.

Tim Dobbins - Any updates on the race to replace Donnie Edwards?

I'd be jumping all over Greenway. There've been quite a few stories over the past two weeks about how good Greenway looks in OTAs. He's a near lock to be a top 30 player if fully healthy and has a top 20 ceiling if he can overcome the Minnesota assist bias and add some big plays.

Ingram has been impressive but I doubt he can climb out of the LOLB pigeonhole he's in now. Durant has been running with the second team at WLB in OTAs. And I haven't started a new thread because I can't find official confirmation, but the message board homers noted Peterson lined up at MLB during a recent mini-camp and there was a note in the local paper that referred to him as the MLB two days ago. I think it would've been made a bigger deal if Smith and Peterson had switched places so it's probably safe to assume Peterson is still the MLB.

Alston is the second team WLB right now but Tinoisamoa hasn't exactly been durable. I don't think he's worth rostering yet.

I haven't heard anything new on the Chargers front. I don't see Dobbins having a major role anytime soon and Anthony Waters had a couple of nice fluff pieces written about him last week.

Greenway is an easy roster of this group.

I'd jump on Greenway. If McIntosh or Keiaho is still out there, I'd grab them quickly as well.

Matt Wilhelm and Stephen Cooper have initially been annointed starters in the two ILB positions in SDC's 3-4 defense. Tim Dobbins and Anthony Waters are both capable backups; if fact I don't think there is much of a gap between the four. That said, I've heard nothing other than Wilhelm & Cooper as starters.

One more vote for Greenway - I'm glad I didn't trade him away (as I attempted to - but found no takers last season  ) All the stuff I'm reading says he is fully recovered and is very impressive so far in OTA and mini-camp. I agree with Tick on Keiaho and McIntosh. Depends on the depth of your league if they are still available.

:D

I had previously picked up Rock and Keiaho, which is why I didn't include them on the list. Greenway ended up not being available. I thought his owner might cut ties with him as he had some tough roster choices to make but it didn't happen. Alston was the big question mark for me. There's been very little chatter about the guy which I found surprising, as stealing Pisa Tinoasomoa's spot wouldn't appear to be too difficult. Thanks fellow IDP'rs for the updates.
