Any worries about DeSean Jackson (1 Viewer)

All D-Jax owners have to be worried with the way Kolb has played so far. Where would you rank D-Jax if Kolb remains under center for 3 or 4 weeks, with SF, ATL, and Tenn left on the schedule before the bye week. With Vick under center he was a must start every week but now? Any thoughts!!!! :goodposting: :goodposting:

last year desean had two of his better games with kolb under center. the bigger issue, is kolb under center with this horrible oline. if the oline can protect better, then kolb will be better. if not, then you will see more of the same.

while i am not a big kolb fan, you have to be fair to this guy. he only had 10 pass attempts in 1 half of football vs green bay, before he left with a concussion. last week, he did a little bit better after coming off the bench, and hopefully he continues to improve.

desean is too good to bench. he can take a simple wr screen, and break it 60 yards for a touchdown. he could take an end around to the house. i would never bench desean jackson, no matter how bad the qb is.

I think with a week to prepare that we'll see an improved passing attack all the way around. Especially with a banged up McCoy.

There seemed to be some Kolb - Jackson chemistry last season, it's the Maclin owners that should be concerned.

Kolb’s 2009 starts

VS Saints Kolb 31/51 391 yds 2 tds 3 int

Jackson 4/101 1td

Maclin 2/12 0 tds

VS Chiefs Kolb 24/34 327 yds 2 tds 0 int

Jackson 6/149 1 td

Maclin 4/33 0 tds

After McNabb returned

VS TB McNabb 16/21 264 3 tds 0 int

Jackson 1/1 0 tds

Maclin 6/142 2 tds

I'm worried. But I agree with the sentiment of the other posters: unless you have another solid starter that could replace him, start 'em.

Once or twice a year I make the mistake of sitting a stud. Last week I sat Calvin J and started Colston. Jackson is a stud. Repeat after me: Never bench your studs, Never bench your studs, Never bench your studs...........

I briefly considered starting Knox or Royal over him, but I decided against it. He's to explosive to sit unless you have a great option and SF is 20th against the pass.

I'm surprised there has not been more talk about Celek, he would seem to get the biggest boost with Kolb at QB and McCoy likely limited. Both have a good chance to score.

Great topic - great points by all...I personally think we may see Kolb spending less time under center and in the shotgun formation going forward.

People could bench their studs and get it right 6 times in a row, but as soon as it backfires, thats all they remember. I dont agree with the always play your studs. I play the guy i think will have the best game. Plus, how do you determine who is a stud and who isnt?I wouldnt be nervous with Desean, at least because Kolb is in at QB. He is a boom or bust pick, which every knew when they drafted him. There are only 6-8 WR's i would start over him this week, although there are probably 20+ WR's i would say are safer bets for at least 50 yards.

After TO and Eddie Royals performances last week i am thinking about starting one of them over him till I seem more out of Kolb. Thoughts?

Was going to post this. Jackson thrived in Kolb's 2 starts last year. Incidentally, this is Kolb's first road start of his career and his first primetime game. Fair or not, this is do or die time for his career.

Ultimately it comes down to "what can I live with?" If you can live with knowing you benched your high draft pick on a week he went off, then you play the matchup game. If you can't stomach that, you never bench them and hope for the best.

Sure, it hurts when you bench a "stud" and it backfires, but if i am doing it at better than a 50% rate, i dont care how much it hurts.

Very worried, the 2 halfs that DJax played with Kolb he has done NOTHING.

I won't bench him, but mostly cause I don't have a better option at this point. But when Mike Walace comes back with Ben DJax may see the bench with Kolb unless they show something this week.

Jackson still has 300 yards and 2 TD's with Kolb in 3 games over the last two years. I have a feeling Jackson will be targeted alot, particularly on shorter passes this week. MAybe takes a slant to the house?7 rec, 120 yards, 1 TD1 car, 25 yards, 1 TD

This is bad news....I have been telling my friend that Kolb is going to get Desean killed on the field.

Is it me or is their a significantly different desean jackson when vick or even mcnabb was throwing him the ball. Kolb seems to throw the ball at his receivers instead of leading them into the openings.

Although Kolb was under pressure on this throw, I question his view to see the whole field.

It's you.
