Anybody benching Roethlesberger this week? (1 Viewer)

bumping your own thread less than two hours? I guess the impatience is reflected in the question......NO, I am not benching my top ten QBI think he will have a good game and Denver's defense it not as good as the early numbers against bad teams would suggest......How many points did Baltimore put up against them?.......and the Steelers have a better offense and defense than the Ravens

I'm starting Big Ben over Cutler...I think Pitt will need to throw the ball alot and I like Ben's chances better than Cutler's vs Arizona.

I am benching him for Schaub in one league and McNabb in another....not sure whether that will change.

Convince me otherwise???

20. The first FG came off of a turnover and one of the TDs came on special teams. Denver's D played very well for most of the game. They had one bad quarter - 1 bad quarter out of 28 is not too shabby. They allowed just 17 points to the Patriots who turned around and dropped 59 (could easily have been 70+) on the Titans the following week.

That said, I would play Big Ben unless you have a top 5 QB backing him up.

Not only am I still starting him, I am throwing in Mike Wallace as my Flex. Crazy? Perhaps, perhaps indeed. Still doing it.

Trying to decide between Ben Ben and Cutler.

With a gun to my head and if the game were today, I'd go with Cutler.

Starting him over Schaub. Indy tough to throw on, they lost Daniels and Ben's playing on another level now. And it's Monday night. I think points are higher in those games (or that could be my imagination.)

I'm benching him for Romo as of right now. Denver defense is for real. I would assume Bailey will be on Ward. Holmes is extremely over rated. Big Ben is not a stud so NBYS does not apply.

Not too many teams have the choice between two Top 8 QBs.Big Ben is a Top 7 QB in Fantasy. What's your definition of a Stud QB?

currently have Flacco penciled in, but Big Ben always rises to the occasion so I am second guessing already
In the same dilemma. I expect them to put up comparably pedestrian numbers, but whenever possible I always prefer extending the contest into MNF rather than closing the books on Sunday. That strategy has rarely, if ever, failed me. I swear, the clock operators are under strict instructions to extend the duration of primetime games.

Denver has been holding QBs to about 70% of their usual output. Last week Flacco was down 33% in my league.

So, I would expect Roethlisberger to dip down a bit, but not enough to bench him unless I had someone in the QB10-QB15 range on my bench.

I'm expecting a low scoring defensive struggle vs. Denver. I'm playing Romo vs. Philly at this point. If nothing else, I expect a whole lot more points in that game.

I am going back and forth between Big Ben and Flacco....fact is, CIN is 31st DEF against the pass which has me leaning towards Flacco.

As Futz said above and I tend to agree and my gut also tells me "I'm expecting a low scoring defensive struggle vs Denver"

Why sit him?
 NBYS until further notice.
Unless of course you also have Brees ;)
 I am starting Holmes, Hines, and Wallace in different leagues.
Who will Champ cover.........Holmes, Ward, or one specific side of the field?
Champ usually stays on the left side of the field, but vs SD he followed VJax around - first time I've noticed him following a particular player. Who knows what happens vs PIT.

I'm starting McNabb over him. It's a Sportsline league and pretty much what I do there is add the avg. and the guru points then go with whoever has a higher total. I prefer that over agonizing all week over decisions then starting the wrong guy anyway.

There are 2 things I don't generally do:

1-Waste a roster spot on a 2nd QB.

2-Worry about bad match-ups for QBs.

In the leagues in which I own Roethlisberger, he'll be starting.

I've been waffling between Roethlisberger and Schaub all week.
I have the same dilemma. Sorry I can't validate a choice for you.
x3
x4 but leaning toward Schaub being my starter most likely
x 5 - I think the PIT DEN game is going to be a low scoring affair, and Houston is going to be playing from behind so will be forced to air it out...so I am going ahead with Schaub. Plus - Ben gets sacked a ton and in my league that ends up neutralizing alot of his points.

I'm starting Big Ben over Cutler...I think Pitt will need to throw the ball alot and I like Ben's chances better than Cutler's vs Arizona.
You will regret this.....Cutler will light up Arizona at home in an almost must win for the Bears. Arizona secondary is horrible and they are worse on the road.

So would Flacco vs CIN #21 overall ranked DEF and 31st ranked passing DEF warrant serious consideration over Big Ben vs #1 overall DEF and # 8 against the pass?

I think so and therefore am leaning towards starting Flacco.

and if so, for who?
I plan on starting him, as usual, over Carson Palmer. Anybody know if Champ will be covering Holmes or Ward?
Really? Baltimore pass D is not very good; Bengals are at home now in a huge division game. Chris Henry has started contributing more. And Palmer always has a good game against the Ravens (7-3 life time).
Trust me, it hasn't been an easy decision. But, if you look at the body of work over the first 7 games of the season......the Steelers appear to be a "pass first" team while the Bengals seem to be a "run first" team (with Benson doing so well). I know, Palmer KILLED IT last time out, but.........doesn't change the fact that the Bengals would like to control the game by rushing the football.

Might be crazy, but contemplating Alex Smith over Big Ben...Still some number crunching to do...
I've been thinking about doing the same thing. But at 4-4, I need a win, and this week is a very winable game for me, so I may have to go with the safe choice and start Big Bin.The thing that I have always liked about Rothlesberger, is that he is consistant. He doesn't throw too many stinkers.

I'm also leaning towards Schaub over Roths. Part of the reason is A Peterson on a bye, and now I have to start Slaton-K Smith/Mo Morris. So, I figure I need a BIG week out of my QB. Roths is safer, he'll do OK I think, but I like the potential of Schaub's upside. I've read all about Indy's D backfield injuries, but also saw a blurb about how AJ and Schaub have never BOTH been healthy for an Indy matchup. Hoping for Houston to make hay and for Schaub to have a big week. I expect something like 225 and a TD, maybe 2 from Rothlisberger. Hoping for 300+ and 3 TD from Schaub. Owen Daniels hurts, but puts Walter and Slaton (as a reciever) back in the mix. With my RB situation, I need to gamble on the upside, so I'll go with Schaub.
