He didn't get many carries and most of the ones he got were attempts to get him around the corner but the Packers did an excellent job of pursuit and stretching the plays out and stopped him from generating anything productive. As the stats show his best work was in the passing game. The Saints do a good job of getting him into space on his pass routes and he's able to make some things happen. He wasn't really close to breaking a big gain today. I was a little surprised he didn't get more carries but for the second straight game the Packers did a pretty good job defending the run. They did give up the two TDs to McAllister but held Deuce and Bush to under 55 total yards rushing. That comes on the heels of a pretty good outing against Thomas Jones last week. The Packers' run defense may turn out to be better than I anticipated but they still stink trying to defend the pass.
uuh?? really? outside of his 1 run i thought he was pretty under par. maybe it was just me.Deuce looked good
The Packers have the LB corps to run sideline to sideline--Hawk and Barnett are f-a-a-a-a-s-t.He didn't get many carries and most of the ones he got were attempts to get him around the corner but the Packers did an excellent job of pursuit and stretching the plays out and stopped him from generating anything productive. The play that impressed me the most (and it was a first this preseason and season) was AJ Hawk being able to cut and bring down Bush prior to him reaching the corner... Hawk showed tremendous burst even though it was late in the game...

Yup. There isn't very little about the current Packers or even the short-term future to get excited about but one thing that has the potential to be VERY good is the Green Bay LB corps -- and it will only get better when Hodge starts playing more. I still believe the future LB corps will be Hawk, Barnett and Hodge and I think that will be a terrific trio. It's a long season. I also didn't think Deuce looked all that great by any means against the Packers. His best run was his long TD but for most of the rest of the game he looked sluggish and was slow to hit the hole -- two problems he's had for quite awhile now, even before his knee injury. Then again, it's possible the Packers' run defense may be better than I had anticipated. They've done a pretty solid job in their first two games. But I think it's pretty tough to have watched yesterday's game and come away thinking McAllister looked real good. That's not the impression I got by any means.PPR leagues Bush will be OK.Otherwise it is looking like Duece is the RB you should have on the Saints.
They do need to vary things up with his carries. It was pretty predictable yesterday since nearly all (and maybe all?) of his carries were stretch plays where they tried to get Bush to bounce it outside. It wasn't tough to figure that out and the Packers smelled out the few runs he did have. One criticism I have of Reggie Bush so far is that he's still positive that he can consistently outrun NFL LBs to the corner. He's going to have to start investing an extra juke into these sweeps, and be ready to cut inside more readily when he sees overpursuit, instead of trying to race to the sideline. I'd also like to see the Saints call more off-tackle stuff for Reggie ... something he can cut back on more immediately when opponent's sell out to stop him.
A Milwaukee columnist wrote that Hawk was going to be a bust in the pre-season. Unbelievable....

Abdul Hodge -- rookie LB from Iowa. I'm very high on him.packersfan said:A Milwaukee columnist wrote that Hawk was going to be a bust in the pre-season. Unbelievable. The Hodge you refer to ... is that former Saint Sedrick Hodge?
Exactly. Bush either needs to learn to stick his head up in the line nad get 3 yards or we're all going to be waiting for somthing to click and for him to be able to turn the corner - like when Ricky Williams finally started to click. I think he's right on target in his development so far. He's going to be much less effective when he's playing teams with fast LBs who can move sideline to sideline.Doug B said:One criticism I have of Reggie Bush so far is that he's still positive that he can consistently outrun NFL LBs to the corner. Your right they are fast and were effective when they had more than one defensive player in the area, which was often, but I loved the play where Bush caught a little sideline pass and made Barnett look like he was trying to tackle air. He even high jumped Barnett's last ditch swipe that he had no business even knowing it was coming since Barnett was behind him at that point. Overall Bush was extremely effective in the passing game even though the Packers always had him double covered as soon as he broke through the line of scrimmage. If NO keeps getting passes to their WRs and hurting teams that way I foresee Bush getting more chances at big plays.pinequick said:The Packers have the LB corps to run sideline to sideline--Hawk and Barnett are f-a-a-a-a-s-t.He didn't get many carries and most of the ones he got were attempts to get him around the corner but the Packers did an excellent job of pursuit and stretching the plays out and stopped him from generating anything productive. Probably just bad luck with the games' locales. Cleveland's turf looked shiny last week ... like early morning dew. Several other players slipped throughout that game.Same this past week in Green Bay. The grass didn't shine that I could tell, but there was plenty of slipping.Bush played high school ball in San Diego and most of his collegiate games on the West Coast. Perhaps he's used to low humidity and the turf being drier and having more "bite". Perhaps he just needs to go with longer cleats for better grip.Has anyone else noticed that he also seems to be slipping a lot?

the saints oline was pretty awful this week. they weren't offering much in the way of pass protection and the run blocking was awful. the saints switched to screens and that seemed to offset their inadequacies.nope, Duece owner (bench)you tell me how you see it... outside of his 21 yard TD.... 11c/26yds. I saw the whole game didn't like what i saw besides the TD's.
Maybe it's those Adidas cleats he's wearing. Perhaps Adidas should stop paying $10K/ week for Reggie's fines for for wearing unauthorized brands and invest that money in equiptment that can keep up with this phenominal athlete!Has anyone else noticed that he also seems to be slipping a lot? He makes some insane cuts, but his feet keep sliding out from under him. I've seen this happen at least 6 or so times in the first two games.
