I don't have any information, but I think it could be one of a few things:

1-Pagano isn't Coughlin, and has no history with Bradshaw. Many coaches won't let players play if they don't practice. In NY, Bradshaw was often on the injury report because of limited/no practice, then he would play on Sundays/Mondays. Maybe that's not Pagano's way.

2-Bradshaw's neck injury gave the Colts the perfect opportunity to give Richardson the reins, so to speak, this week. The Jags aren't a tough opponent, and it would allow Richardson to get a lot of work in the Colts offense. If Bradshaw was active/healthy, it would be hard to bench him/cut his PT, based on his performance. If Bradshaw was/is a "locker room leader," (and I don't know if he is/isn't) that could have a bad impact on team moral.

3-Bradshaw's injury is significant. While this is possible, I find it the least likely. The play where he got hurt came early in the SF game, and he did most of his work/damage after it occurred. He played almost 2.5 quarters after the injury, and there have been no further reports (that I know of) about the injury. One would think, if it were serious, that there would be something out there.

I tend to think it's a combination of reasons 1 & 2 above. Pagano might want/need to see Bradshaw practice in order to play (plus, Bradshaw isn't as familiar with the offense/his teammates as he was in NY) and the Colts saw an opportunity to give their new lead RB more work. Hopefully, for Bradshaw's sake, it's not a serious neck injury.

I doubt if that's entirely it (it could have played a part, though). Bradshaw is on a 1-year contract, so he's basically auditioning for every other team in the league; and he has $650K in in-game roster bonuses that he could earn. I'd imagine if he were healthy enough to be active, he wouldn't just say "no problem, I'll take the day off so you can give the new guy the chance to eat in to my playing time."

Not practicing again today...

Ahmad Bradshaw (neck) is not practicing Wednesday.

Bradshaw's neck injury appears to be more serious than the Colts originally let on. We've marked him as "week to week" instead of "day to day." If Bradshaw can't go in Week 5, Trent Richardson is going to carry the mail against the Seahawks' dominant front seven on Sunday. Donald Brown will be mixed in as well.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Ahmad Bradshaw (neck) is doubtful for Week 5.
Bradshaw has yet to resume practicing and should be considered week to week. Trent Richardson will remain an every-down back for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.

Did you happen to see the play where he got injured? It scared the hell out of me the way he got up and then did a spasm and fell to his knees. I'm not a doctor, but I said right there that he has a serious stinger or something that affected his nervous system.

Little was made of it at the time because the announcers are oblivious and want to get their talking points in.

I don't see him playing for a few more weeks.

Was my initial concern on this. You don't rule a guy out on a Friday out of the blue for no reason.w/o it being a long term concern. That it was a neck injury gave me an uneasy feeling on the matter.

Blounts got the opportunity right now with no Vereen, possibly no Ridley; but of those guys I'd say Bryce has the most talent.
