Anyone Benching Portis this week. (1 Viewer)

I know some will say this is in the wrong forum but oh well.

I have Forte, Westbrook, and Portis

Portis and the coach seem to iron out their differences.

It looks as though Portis is healthy and they're going to run him.......a lot.

But Cin.'s run defense isn't that bad.

yes.. this is the wrong forum but what do you really want people to say anyway. You have 3 viable guys to start. If you can only start 2 then you could make an argument for any of those guys to be a stud this week.. flip a coin if you want...

I'm actually (as of right now) playing the combination of D Williams and Jonathan Stewart over Portis. I've got the better of my playoff opponent at most spots (imo), so want to play it safe on production from my RB2 and Flex spot. You just have to figure that Carolina will get a combined (floor) of 200 yrds and 2 TD's on the ground. Ceiling much higher, at least 300 and 3-4 TD's rushing.

Am I insane for doing this? I may regret it, but I'd bet even money that with all the question marks with Portis vs. a mediocre run D (albeit with NOTHING to play for)...I'll get same #'s out of Jonathan Stewart. If not, that means that I got insane #'s out of DWill and it won't matter overall.

I'm playing Portis over TJones. Cincy's run def isn't that bad?? Say what? They are ranked in the 20's. Portis should have a good game, esp. with the whole coach/player ironing out their differences part.

You might regret this... Denver is an incredibly juicy mathcup but that's why it would scare me. They have the potential on offense to put up a couple of scores early and potentially force Carolina to throw on them.

I sure hope that's the way it works out. My opponent is playing both Williams and Stewart. I got Smith. As far as the OP is concerned, I am playing Portis and Chris Johnson over Thomas Jones

Of LT, Ryan Grant, Portis and Tashard Choice,

I'm going with LT and Grant.

Everything about the Redskins offense bugs me but Portis is a work horse who's not being worked enough.

Portis was dinged up last week and hadn't been practicing much for a little while.

He expressed his frustration with the coach, which should open his eyes and get Portis more involved. Also, I heard on ESPN he had returned to practice.

Cinci ranks 23rd against the rush. "Not that bad"? My guess is teams throw on them more than they run because their pass D is just that terrible. Portis is one of the best running backs in the league, on an offense isn't lighting it up with the pass.

If this was Pitt or Balt, sure, I'd consider benching him. Against a team that allows 126 rushing yards per?

I imagine something like:

22 rushes

94 Yards

1 TD

2 receptions

17 yards

Both Skins starting Tackles are out this week (though one should have been benched anyway).

I'm starting Portis in two leagues though. One over Reggie; one over Harrison.

I wouldn't bench Portis for anyone this week. (starting him and SJax over Gore this week)

I actually think Portis will be the top scoring RB this week. Great players tend to respond when called out (or benched) like Portis was last week. He should be Motivated and determined to show why he was leading the league in rushing just a few weeks ago.

In my leisurely freebie public yahoo league I'm playing Portis for the first time since week 8 (over Slaton, TJones, and Lynch).

The only thing still giving me pause is, what if WAS gets a big lead and starts resting people early? I don't know that WAS is explosive enough to really do that, even against the Bengals, who've had several games where they were at least competitive.

My opponent has Slaton in over him against me this week (he already has played Forte). Not sure how to feel about it. I mean the guy has been battling a bunch of injuries for weeks now. Some of you guys seem to be benching some good RBs (ie. T. Jones) that are healthy and on seemingly better teams than a guy who's team is going in the tank, has injuries to himself and his O-line and oh yeah, may or may not be in his coach's doghouse.

In a mind blowing decisive move, I started LT and Portis over Norwood and KJones this week.

Don't you draft Portis to play him in the playoffs? Healthy + motivated + good matchup = stud?

I can start 3 RBs and have Slaton, Portis, MJD, DeAngelo Williams and Ronnie Brown.

I'm definitely starting MJD and Williams and thinking of sitting Portis for Slaton or Brown but haven't yet decided.

Not on the injury report, and I don't think the doghouse is an issue, but you make a good point about the oline.Ugh.

I would start me at RB on my fantasy team against the Bengals, and I am a Bengals fan.

I can't see how there is much debate about this one.
Do you watch all the games? How bad are they? They are 28th in FF points allowed to RBs.. Scares me a little

Have they just played against bad RBs, or do teams exploit them more through the air?
Steelers and Ravens ran at will on them. The DL is terrible. Other teams failed to take advantage of their defense due to poorly conceived game plans (see Dallas and Eagles games).Portis will be $ this week

He just switched it back to Portis. Maybe he feels Portis has more upside this week.

I have him on the bench right now with Chris Johnson and Westy in the lineup. I REALLY want to start Portis this week over CJ but something is telling me to stick with what I have.

Similarly, I'm sticking with Chris Johnson and Peterson over Portis but considered strongly every possible combination of the three but I'm keeping Portis on my bench.

I'm benching S-Jax in one league, and CJ3 in 2 leagues, to start Portis today. I too feel he's gonna have a huge day.

Starting Portis and Chris Johnson this week over Thomas Jones too. Had a dream where Portis and Chris Johnson both got me 40+points, so I'm sticking with that! Now if only LenDale White sat on the bench the whole day....

If anyone sits Portis today during the playoffs against the Bengals, you had better be stacked with Peterson and Westbrook. Although any player can have a bad game and hindsight is 20/20, let's be real.

That was bizzarre. I have Forte, Slaton and Portis, and switched back to Portis right before you posted.

Good luck to you. My opp. also had Brees so I think he might be leaning toward Portis' upside since Brees/Forte underscored their combined average by about 15 points. Hence the switch.

Thanks, you too. I stuck with Portis, so far, neither he nor Slaton are doing diddly-poo.
