ANYONE CONSIDERING STARTING SCHILENS (1 Viewer)

ANYONE CONSIDERING STARTING SCHILENS.If so then what do you think he is going to be worth? kc defense is horrible but so is oakands qb.

I've had him on my IR all season. I've thought about cutting him, but I haven't needed that IR spot, so I've just left him there. As soon as he plays a game, I will cut him.

I'm keeping my eye on Schilens...he and Russell were hooking up with regularity in the preseason before he got hurt...so might not be a bad guy to stash on the bench if you have the space...might be good trade bait in your league for another team that is weak at WR if he comes out and puts up decent numbers.

Also at the end of last season too.

If the rest of my WRs were S Smith (NY), Nicks, Manningham, Andre Johnson, Kevin Walter, and Jacoby Jones, I'd still be hard-pressed to put schilens in my lineup.

NO I AM NOT BECAUSE HE'S NOT ON MY TEAM BUT IF HE WAS I WOULDN'T START HIM BUT THANK YOU FOR STARTING THIS THREAD

Added him to my watch list. I have an open roster spot right now and will need to see what he does this week and possibly the KC and Titans receivers.

If you are willing to take a slight risk, then yes, I'd do it. For me, it's between him and Lance Long in a few leagues, so I will probably play Long in most of them and Schilens in one. Oh, BTW, I'm very high on Schilens. If his foot is OK and good enough for him to get 2/3 of the snaps, I expect a good game. The injury is my only concern, as once he is healthy (by Week 11 or 12), all systems go. Don't be surprised to see 5-6 receptions this weekend. Signed, Probably the 1st Schilens owner......Acquired late Oct '2008

The question I have is how much will JR air it out. Seeing that they can't get any worse, they may not have much to lose at this point and just throw the ball. If he can find some accuracy then it might be a good pickup.

yeah but.....Carson Palmer and Chris Henry were also hooking up with regularity in preseason, how'd that work out? I think it's a case of the dog chasing its tail in circles, waiting for this Shilens guy to get things rolling...

I believe it is a bit premature to get Schillens in your lineup, unless you are quite desperate. Let him shake the rust off from your bench, observe and look toward next week.

One difference is that Henry had an all-world WR (Ochocinco), a savvy veteran (Coles) and a very capable slot WR (Caldwell) ahead of him in the pecking order.Schilens has no real competition whatsoever outside of Miller, although whether Russell can figure out how the throw the ball is probably the bigger issue.

I'm picking up Schilens today. I don't intend to start him, but I only have 3 WRs who are playing this week. So if any of them are a late scratch, Chaz starts.

I don't expect much this week, but I have low waiver priority. If he does anything at all, I won't be able to get him next week.

EDIT: Due to trading away 1 of my starting WRs, I will be starting Schilens this week. I'm on the bandwagon...

Starting him for sure in the 2 leagues I own him. Over Calvin in 1 league and not looking back. I'm in a good enough position that I can gamble so let the chips fall where they may. Russell looks bad without him and sub par to serviceable with him. I am on board.

Given how porous the KC secondary has been, I don't think it's such a bad play. If it were any other defense, the "wait and see" approach would be in order -- but this is Chaz's best matchup of the year. As if we needed another reason to break out the popcorn for Chiefs-Raiders.

I'm on-board. With AJ on a bye and my reserve recievers freshly traded away for Jason Witten, I have very little choice. Its definately a gamble, but sometimes its more fun to stick your neck out a bit. If he comes through, my legend will grow (at least in my own mind). If he fails, then I will have missed out on James Jones' impending 3 point weekend.

Please note: I am known for my famous last words. This means that James Jones is going to be studly this weekend.
