Anyone else 6 - 0 or 5 -1 thanks to your IDPs (1 Viewer)

My first yr in IDPs and I have 3 teams that are 5 - 1.... The one in my Sig is the most competitive since it is a $100 buy in.. The first 3 weeks were soley won by my IDPs since my Offense is sub-par..

Also want to add that Mike Peterson was part of that line; oh well.

I am 4-1-1 but leading my 14 team league in total points scored thanks to my defense. We can make the playoffs off total points as well as win/loss record, so total points are very important. My offense is pathetic, thanks to Warner going crazy with turnovers and getting benched. I am starting two TEs some weeks, Shockey and D. Clark. Eli is my best offensive player...we can start 2 QBs, which is why Warner was important. I had to start Leon Washington and Jamal Lewis as my 2 RBs this week :yucky: Fred Taylor was on a bye. My recievers: Wes Welker (we get points for return yartage) and Greg Jennings are my best WRs. My offense is the Suck.

My defense, on the other hand, is pretty damn awesome. My starters are:

DL - Peppers

DL - Bryan Thomas

LB - Urlacher

LB - Bulluck

LB - G. Hayes

LB - T. Howard

DB - Adrian Wilson

DB - Lito Sheppard

Bench:

DL - Hali

LB - A. Wilson

DB - S. Taylor

DB - D. Robinson

As you can see, I am definitely riding my defense to the playoffs.

EDITED: Our rosters are not deep, but I am severely considering picking up Ahmad Brooks.

I'm 3-3 but there has definitely been an increase in my IDP production over the years (3+) in my dynasty league and it's starting to bear fruits (I was routinely at the bottom of the barrel). And that's swell cuz my offense is carried by Westbrook, Gates, and little else. I feel it's easier to reload on defense versus offense. However, the more I pay attention to my IDPs, the better my team seems to get.

Thanks....you have a very good defense as well. Fletcher is a tackling machine. I have him in my other league. I also have Peppers in both of my leagues, which is making me :excited:

I'm 5-1 this year, and my IDP's are finally getting help from my RB's & (especially) WR.

I inherited this dynasty team with Peyton, Zach, Peterson, Abraham, Duckett, T. Jones and a bunch of guys who either turned into pumpkins like E. George or had incredible suckiness.

I got the IDP turned around fast, and I finally traded some draft picks & young players away to get a couple decent WRs in Mushy and DJax. I've been on the cusp of the playoffs the ast 2 years, andthis year I hopefully will get in.

For me it's the opposite although some IDP's are scoring well.

Two 5-1 teams with very little thanks to my idps. Both teams were 5-0 going into last weekend.

I took over a Zealots dynasty team this year and used the draft to solidify my offense. I liked my idps.

DBs - Adrian Wilson, Ed Reed, Terrence McGee... and lots of turnover

LBs - Tatupu, ADavis, Farrior, Merriman, Derek Smith, Pisa... and more turnover. Holding Emmons and Boley right now.

DL - Little and Wistrom... I picked up ABrown as an RFA, Tommie Harris in FA... and more turnover... hoarding rookies (Anderson, Edwards, Kiwi) at the moment.

That's a pretty sweet inheritance. The DL needed upgrading, and maybe the rookies will do that. Other than Wilson, this crew has been mediocre and less productive than anticipated. The team leads the league in scoring, but that's because the offense has been hot (until this past week).

My local redraft $300 auction defending champions are decimated by idp injury. On action day I proudly walked away with the following defense:

DL - Abraham, Kearse, Hall

LBs - Peterson, Urlacher, Morgan, Henderson, Simmons

DBs - Sanders, Winfield, Archuleta

This team has used Roman Harper, Shaun Phillips, Mark Anderson, Tommie Harris, Shaun Rogers, Carlos Emmons, Mike Brown, Darrent Williams, Richard Marshall, Michael Boley, etcetera etcetera etcetera...

At 5-1 I am alone in first place and 7th in scoring. There is only one 4-2 team, and there are 8 teams at 3-3, what a logjam. I am as lucky in the schedule as I am unlucky with the injuries.

How did you get those starters in a 16 team league? The other owners in your league must be retared. That's an awesome lineup for a 10 team league.

I am in 2 IDP leagues. One I am 4-2, but the top team in the league. I am barely behind for the award as the top defensive scoring team. In my second league I am a nasty 3-4 (we have a double header week), but my D is #2. I just suck in that league at choosing my O starters. First year as a FBG subscriber, and it has helped big time. I drafted guys like Ryans and Hayes late and kicked butt. It's great!

actually some very good owners, and a few newbs when we drafted....I drafted near the end of the vet draft so I snagged Rudi and then Jordan(15th & 18th overall)...pulled off a few trades to pick up an extra 3rd to aquire Roy Williams DET....SSmith was coming off a Broken Leg and I remember I think I was deciding on Horn DJax or Smith and I got lucky and made the right call....I traded for Chester early in the year last yr, hoping he would land a starting gig...i pulled off a few deals this past spring:

here is the link to the draft from Feb 2005: http://football18.myfantasyleague.com/2005...=70376&O=17 for some reason some of the draft picks dont match who truly drafted them(not sure when or how that got screwed up but our teams were never wrong)

also rounds 1-40 were the vet draft 41 started the rook draft...and players that had been in the league less then 3 yrs could be put on our DTS(dev. taxi squad)

here are a few of the trades i made this past spring:

I paid thru the nose for DEdwards to make my run this yr and so far he hasnt lived up to expectations

* Carolina Rednecks (Selly) gave up Edwards, Donnie SDC LB; Year 2007 Round 7 Draft Pick from Carolina Rednecks (Selly)

* Williamsburg Warriors (keggerz) gave up Bruschi, Tedy NEP LB;Gold, Ian DEN LB; Year 2007 Round 1 Draft Pick from Williamsburg Warriors (keggerz)

I also overpaid for CPerry but felt that was a necessary evil:

* Tyler Twisters (Perchoutofwater - Matt) gave up Dilfer, Trent CLE QB;Greene, David SEA QB;Perry, Chris CIN RB

* Williamsburg Warriors (keggerz) gave up Brees, Drew NOS QB

The deal that landed me CJ and Peppers has worked out in my favor so far:

* New Mexico Outlaws (Ziachild007) gave up Johnson, Chad CIN WR;Peppers, Julius CAR DE

* Williamsburg Warriors (keggerz) gave up Lewis, Jamal BAL RB;Crowder, Channing MIA LB

I did this trade back in JULY 2005:

# Williamsburg Warriors (keggerz) gave up Year 2005 Draft Pick 20.02;Year 2005 Draft Pick 21.15

# Beantown Bears (Beantown Bears) gave up Green, Ahman GBP RB; Year 2005 Draft Pick 17.16;Year 2005 Draft Pick 18.01

Comments: Keg also sends rook 1.2 (bye bye Ronnie Cadillac Arrington)

Lucky for me I traded Ahman a week prior to his injury:

* New Mexico Outlaws (Ziachild007) gave up Lewis, Jamal BAL RB;Smith, Musa BAL RB;Clark, Desmond CHI TE; Year 2006 Round 5 Draft Pick from New Mexico Outlaws (Ziachild007)

* Williamsburg Warriors (keggerz) gave up Green, Ahman GBP RB;Kinney, Erron TEN TE; Year 2006 Round 1 Draft Pick from Williamsburg Warriors (keggerz)

Luckily I was able to use Jamal as part of the Chad Johnson Peppers deal

Looks like you made some solid trades but you gave up a 2005, 2006 and 2007 1st round draft pick? I don't like to give up 1st round picks. Those are the picks where you get future studs. You made out like a bandit in the Peppers trade.

i guess i should have stated this is a salary cap and contract dynasty league(very complex)...with the make up of my team i could never afford to roster those 1st rounders...so i hedged the future for the now

IDP's are definitely a spot to focus on when you inherit a crappy dynasty team, and they get you to stay in the hunt when the O doesn't produce.
