Anyone else love watching Diggers? (1 Viewer)

The two guys are annoying (screaming) and think every find using their metal detectors is fantastic, whether it is junk or not, but I love this show. Hell, I'm addicted to it and will run through all my DVR recordings in no time watching just before I go to sleep at night.

The premise is obvious, but these two guys go to different places of historical significance and try to find artifacts that are significant to the history of the location they are using their metal detectors on.

ooh man wait until ring sees this sweet necter and the amazing piece I just found.

gets old and annoying very fast. the pinpoint detectors are cool.

I like it. While they do oversell things, there is usually a little history to be learned along the way. I can't imagine what their reaction would be if they found a huge stash of gold or something really valuable. They'd probably implode from the excitement.

I've only seen a few episodes, but they do tend to oversell when they find something. Still, the background on what they're looking for makes for a responably interesting story.

Yes, it is irritating when they oversell every find, but I keep coming back for more and I don't know why. I guess I just love treasure hunting.

This show makes it seem like metal detectorists are happy go lucky guys excited to be on an adventure and find things when in fact metal detectorists are old, territorial paranoid weirdos.

I love how the informational side-bars show values on coins:

"1813 Nickel - In mint condition, worth $1,200!"

Then the photo of theirs shows it's crusted with mud and tarnish, and barely distinguishable from a bottle cap.

Hell, that makes me want to blow my brains out today instead of ordering my first metal detector online.

Go to a metal detecting club meeting. The types at those are hilarious. Fortunately MDing can be done by yourself and you dont have to associate yourself with anyone else.

Let us know what you buy.

I'm thinking of a Minelab xterra 305 for $419 through KellyCo option 2, which includes the pinpointer.

Most of those extras are crap. The pinpointer and digger are cheap pieces of junk. I know they are pricey but a Garrett Propointer is what you want to get. For the digger, get a Lesche digging tool. The 305 is a decent machine, from what Ive heard its a bit heavier than others which can wear on the arms during a long session but it is a good choice. You may want to upgrade to a AT Pro at some point in the future if you like the hobby.

in my opinion, you are not a man unless you dug a gold coin or at least a silver 50 cent piece. Several gold rings or several silver coins is an OK substitute.

Local metal detector store, Amazon, Kellyco has them.
