unfortunately as of last week i started having this problem and I am using FIREFOX :(I'll get the obligatory Microsoft SuXor comment out of the way. No problem with Firefox.![]()
Same here. Doesn't happen as often with IEunfortunately as of last week i started having this problem and I am using FIREFOX :(I'll get the obligatory Microsoft SuXor comment out of the way. No problem with Firefox.![]()
I thought it was java from the appletA few friends that had this problem, I asked if they saw the TV commercials in the field applet. Nope. I figure that's about when it shuts down. Maybe it's not java, you may be right but I think it has to do with that commercial BSI've been having this problem with CBSSportsline trying to follow NCAA games on Sat. I believe it is NOT related to the browser, but instead to Flash/Shockwave or Media Player (not sure which, since it's on the work computer and can't change this to try and fix it)
could be your firewall / security software shutting down what it thinks is a bad applet.if that's the case it's not MSFT.BTW, the new IE is better than FF.I thought it was java from the appletA few friends that had this problem, I asked if they saw the TV commercials in the field applet. I've had Firefox do it to me several times, though I haven't downloaded 2.0 yet. . .I'll get the obligatory Microsoft SuXor comment out of the way. No problem with Firefox.![]()
good fix, but also if you download 2.0, when it fails, you just restart firefox and it says "restore session" and it will open up all the windows you had open before.J R said:I used to have what I think is the same problem with sportsline's baseball scoreboard. This worked: 1. Type about:config in Firefox's address bar. 2. Filter down to the value for dom.max_script_run_time. 3. Change the value to something higher than the default (which is 5.) I set mine to 20. 4. Bask in interruptionless browsing!I googled the error message to find this.

Firefox 2.0 shuts down on the nfl.com page for me. I'll try that fix. Thanks.J R said:I used to have what I think is the same problem with sportsline's baseball scoreboard. This worked: 1. How come you guys don't just hit another site. I quoted one above, another one or two was mentioned here. I'm surprised. What's with this determination? My thinking is whatever works best, don't wanna miss out on in game stats. NFL's doing it themselves next year so it'll be different anyhow. I'm not "sufferring" thru this year. This seems smoother and less traffic, no applets and....well just liking it better lately

I looked at fox after you suggested it, but it doesn't update as quickly as nfl.comHow come you guys don't just hit another site. I quoted one above, another one or two was mentioned here. Curious why you guys are? It's been said it's annoying, it closes all the windows+everything you're working on so...why?
on the top right it has 30-60-90 you can set the update to whatever ya want.I looked at fox after you suggested it, but it doesn't update as quickly as nfl.comHow come you guys don't just hit another site. Noticed that. Even at 30 it was a play or two behind.on the top right it has 30-60-90 you can set the update to whatever ya want.I looked at fox after you suggested it, but it doesn't update as quickly as nfl.comHow come you guys don't just hit another site. You need to install the Flash player for Firefox. Make sure you download the one for Firefox and not IE. You can download it at www.adobe.comi tried firefox last week and gamecenter would not even update
I run both IE7 and FF2 now. I agree that for me, FF2 is the way to go. I love the extensions. I cannot have the same browsing experience with IE7. I am a FF "fanboy" due to the extensions. But a couple notes (not necessarily in response to the above quote, but to everyone). IE6 and IE7 are actually just as fast or faster than Firefox, thanks to being integrated into the OS. Opera is actually the fastest browser available. IE7 is a HUGE upgrade over IE6, although I still think it lacks the expandability that FF has. IE7 is much more compatible with the web standards (than IE6, FF still beats it by far here) as well, although MS still had to go their own way on a lot of things, which causes headaches for web developers. BTW - Middle click (or mouse wheel) opens a link in a tab in IE7 just like in FF. IE6 had a very low memory footprint for a single window open. It got crazy with memory usage when you opened multiple pages though because each one was in a separate process. But I believe IE7 memory usage has improved due to the use of tabs, and is equivalent with FF2. I do expect FF3 to introduce much better memory management and performance, as I have read that the even versions of FF will introduce front-end features while the odd versions will work on better performance and behind the scenes enhancements.... snip ....
Finally, I saw a comment that the new IE is better than FF 2.0. I beg to differ. I'm all for using what works best despite being an open source guy myself. But IE is still lacking in almost every area that made FF so popular 3 years ago. Still slower, still no right click-open new tab option, still as clunky as ever from a menu perspective.
MS tried and failed yet again to make a product better than somebody else's. What's that make them....about 2 for 10000?
The 2 being Word and Excel. Both super apps.
hmm I noticed a lag but it seemed the same as NFLWho does NFL's (sportsline's)pages? stats or elias?Noticed that.
