Anyone Ever Draft An Entire Team? (1 Viewer)

I tried to have some fun and try a different strategy this year in my $$$ league and I think I went overboard.

Outside of Peyton Manning, I am starting the whole team!!!!!1

Starting- Wayne, Gonzalez, Clark, Addai

From the 10 hole (PPR) 12 teamer 1st 6 picks

1. LT2

2. Wayne

3. Ocho Cinco

4. Gonzalez

5. Clarke

6. Addai

At least it's a team that scores. Beats having the entire Raiders team...or Browns among others. You got that going for ya.

I offered a trade to a guy that was the Pitt running game and Ward (and a 1st rounder I think) for Kevin Smith and some WR back. This is in a salary cap/dynasty league and I was saving a ton of money which was the impetus if the trade (I have LT/Sproles and MJD at RB as well). The deal was a pretty good deal except the guy already had Big Ben, Heath Miller and I think Santonio Holmes. It gave him everything but the kicker and the D. He turned it down just because he didn't want the entire Steeler roster. I understand. If it were the Colts like the OP has it would probably be different but the Steelers just aren't all that prolific...

I had Romo, MBIII, Witten, T.O. and Folk last year and experimented starting all of them. It was an epic fail. If one of your guys blows up, chances are that your other same team starters will be lacking in thier production, with of course the exception being a qb/wr tandem. If you have other options, Id look into them

Another thing to consider is that you are putting all of your faith in one player, the QB. I dont care if your QB is Manning, Brady or Brees, all of these guys will eventually have a bad day, or even worse, an injury. one bad day or rolled ankle to your QB will virtually kill the production of half of your line-up. Im just saying

Someone in my main league spent their first 3 picks on Manning/Wayne/Harrison... the year after PM's 49 TDs. I don't think he's ever made the playoffs.

An owner in another league this year loaded up with Schaub/Johnson/Walter/Slaton/C. Brown - I think this will end in tears.

I don't think I would ever draft QB/RB/WR starters from the same NFL team, but I do have QB to WR hookups in 4 out of 5 leagues this year.

Back when the Colts blew up, one squad rolled to the Super Bowl (but lost) sporting Manning/Harrison/Wayne/Edge. That teams still has the all-time points scored record.

In a friend's work league last night, someone drafted seven Eagles: Westbrook, McNabb, D. Jackson, McCoy, Curtis, Akers, and Celek.

Amazingly they did not get the Eagles D or Maclin.

Bad idea. I'm a financial advisor. I think you were that client of mine a couple years ago who came in and purchased Citigroup, AIG , and Bank of America.

There is no reward in drafting all the players from the same team and a tremendous increase in risk. It might be fun to mess around with, but it is not good strategy.

I can see this on a high scoring team but the risk of them being shut down during the playoffs in a lose and done scenario would be too much for me. Like DAMAC3 alluded to above, not enough diversification if the team only throws up 13 or 14 points your fantasy team isn't doing much...

The 1999 or even 2000 Rams would have been the only offense I would have been comfortable starting. Although the Colts had some pretty great years too. I don't think this year will be that good though.

If I had gotten an early draft spot, I would have gone for Michael Turner, Roddy White and Matt Ryan.

Didn't happen though. I drafted at the end and Turner was long gone. Still got White though.

Was it 2006 when Kitna/Williams/Jones started out so hot? I think one team in my money league had all 3 of them. Of course that went off the rails when Jones got hurt.

A newbie I had in one of my leagues was a Raiders homer. He drafted every Raider player that year, and of course we were all laughing at him.

Of course, it was the year the Raiders went to the Super Bowl and Gannon was MVP.

Unfortunately, he has tried that same strategy every year, and it didn't go as well.

We had someone do it the year the Rams blew up. He was the joke of the draft and laughed all the way to the bank.

A couple of years ago, I had Romo, Witten, and TO. Got me to the playoffs, but then they went into their December swoon, and I was screwed.

One year I drafted SJax, Holt, Bulger. Totally dropped the ball at the draft party on that one. It did not work out very well.

You should put that team in your sig too. Just list all your old teams in there. I think there is still some room.

Yep, had Harrison and Manning as my top 2 picks in 2005. Got me to the playoffs, then Dungy decided to only play Manning for one series.....

Is that a bad thing?

I dont mind the idea of drafting the starting roster on a team, but I dont really love the colts this year. I think Fitz Boldin Warner and Wells would make a good roster, but I think Arizona's offense will do much better things than Indy's this year.

Hey, I'm in 3 leagues right now, what do you want?!! :bs:

I lost this week to a guy that drafted the ENTIRE Saints team in an ESPN league. I'm hoping I have a rematch with him during the Saints bye week!
