Anyone ever drafted on the turn in a 16-teamer? (1 Viewer)

I've been in a 16-team league for the past couple years, but this is the first time I've been stuck drafting in the 16 hole. Curious to hear if anyone else has been in that position, and if you adjusted your strategy as a result.

In all my years of playing fantasy, the one constant is that I've always sought to get an RB1 with my first pick. But I'm not sure how good a RB I can get at that spot. On the other hand, in a deep league, RB depth is almost non-existent, which argues for getting what I can when it's available.

Anyway, not trying to turn this into an AC thread. My question is less about whether I should draft this guy or that guy as it is what you would do differently compared to drafting at, say, 8 or 10.

Yep, I drew the 16 ball in my longtime (26 year) league. I took Demaryius Thomas and Frank Gore. It might have been early for Gore, but in a 16 teamer you gotta take guys you like because they aren't getting back to you. I took Josh Robinson with the last pick of my draft.

Other players I could've taken there included AJ Green, Randall Cobb, McCoy, Forsett.

Yeah, I'm seeing something similar in my Fantasy Pro draft simulations. I'd be thrilled if someone like Hill, Forte or Anderson fell to me, but it will more likely be a guy with an injury risk (Demarco, Shady) or someone without true RB1 upside (Gore, Miller).

Interestingly, even before I got my draft position, I was already thinking about targeting Foster, but now the argument seems much more compelling, since it may be my only chance to get a true RB1. I'm hopeful he'll still be there at the 3/4 bump.

My general strategy was to attempt take the best value on the board with the first pick and take a player I really liked with the 2nd (even this meant "reaching" quite a bit. Another way to think is ending a run at one position and starting a run another.
