Anyone ever had a family member murdered? (1 Viewer)

Just found out my cousin was murdered. He was only 31. There are only 5 cousins in my family and we all grew up near each other. Pretty brutal stuff. Can't believe someone in my family was actually murdered.

Yes, my cousin was murdered execution style.

Yikes sorry to hear. No murders here, but my uncle was plowed over by a drunken boater on the river when I was little.

holy ####.

sorry, flap- truly.

please let us know that they caught the ####er(s) who did this.
Arrested one dude for tampering and kidnapping. Murder warrant out for the other guy and his face all over the news. It's not a really large city so he can't hide for long. There's an ongoing investigation so some of the details won't be released to us for a while.

Sorry and I hope you and your family stay strong. Death is one thing, but murder has to be such a scary thing to deal with, and undoubtably much harder to accept.

No. Thankfully I have never had an immediate family murdered. My HS sweetheart did however...her mother (separated at the time) was killed by a doctor she was "dating". It tore the family apart, and i felt helpless as the BF. half the family believed she was murdered, and the other half believed it was an "assisted suicide" situation.

It ruined the whole family, and eventually the relationship with my honey was compromised due to the sadness and depression that ensued.

Thoughts and prayers. If any good comes out of this, may it be the bond between you and your family grows stronger.

Sometimes, I can't stand the randomness of life.

Sorry for your loss flap.
It really is random sometimes. What regular backwoods dude gets murdered in the midsouth? College degree. Intelligent guy in podunk USA. Very strange stuff

Sorry for your loss, fg. That's awful, and undoubtedly jarring.

Did he know the suspects or was it more random?
Knew one of them at least. Guy must have been dumb too. From what I know, the guy came to the door when he was on the phone with his girlfriend and he told her he had to go because____ was there.

Never happened to me but my wife's high school best friend was stabbed multiple times in her driveway by a boy. Parents had no idea but had to identify the body. I can't imagine. I'm sorry for your loss.

So sad when people have no respect for human life.
I agree.

No arrests were ever made in his murder. Partly because the police think the person that murdered him was later murdered himself.

There was a murder in my family before I was born. Gets brought up every now and then.

Can't imagine what it'd be like actually having to deal with something like that though. Sorry to hear.

Grandmother was murdered in Trenton NJ. Whole family moved out of the area but she wanted to stay.(husband died three years before) Not the worst area, but not best. Crazy white guy who actually got the death penalty but then got life. I was only 12 but my dad kept all the clippings. Dad died this year so I had to look through all that stuff again. Sucks.

Dealt with lots of death in the family but always from sickness, and hence foreseen after a time. I've got to imagine it happening suddenly is much more difficult, especially with something like murder. Sorry to hear it man, I hope your family gets through it ok.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

The suddenness of it can leave you stunned and confused. Hopefully, the closeness of your cousins helps to see you through it.

to answer your question yes.

My aunt, a nun, was shot to death in Church after finishing choir practice.

I also had a 15/16 year old niece through marriage, who was shot to death by a guy who is giving her a ride in his car.

My mom had a twin sister that was murdered when I was 3.

She was trying to leave her husband who was on drugs. He shot her in the front yard and then shot himself. They had two young girls who were 2 & 5 at the time. They were with a babysitter at the time. The ensuing custody battle was nuts between our family & the father's rich parents.

My cousins ended up with my mom's older sister.

Yes, I had a nephew that was shot 8 times. He was a manager at a convenience store and an ex-coworker previously killed him because my nephew did not hire him. The sorry piece of trash was fired before my nephew started working there. My nephew's boss told him about this guy and said not to hire him because he had been fired for selling alcohol to minors and some other stuff. Oh, and then the coward killed himself after he killed my nephew. That happened six and a half years ago and it still hurts.

I'm sorry for your loss. I know what you're going through and it sucks.

My grandfather who had a leg blown off in WWII and almost died was coming out of CVS on his crutches when a POS crackhead with a gun carjacked him. Just made him go to an ATM to withdraw money, then let him go and took the car, thank God. My grandfather laughed it off and said the poor guy was probably down on his luck, because that's the kind of man he was. I wanted to hunt down and kill the SOB and actually did ponder it for a bit. Closest I've come to losing someone to murder, thankfully.

Sorry for your loss, FG. :(

Not a real family member, but a long time gf of my father. She was a part of my life for 5 or more years. She lived with us for a long time. And she was crazy. I'm sure some of you would have loved her. I am still in touch with her two daughters who are about 10 years younger than me. Anyway, in 2007 she moved to New Hampshire or Vermont with a boyfriend. One night they had a fight and she left to go for a walk. She was found two days later strangled. No charges were ever filed. It has been pretty hard for her younger daughter, but the older daughter seems to have gotten along better.

Sorry about your cousin.

Right before I joined the family my brother-in-law's uncle killed his wife. They didn't know who did it for a few weeks, and during that time they all had thanksgiving together. Looking back at how he acted that day is so bizarre for everyone.

When I was in high school my dad was shot and killed in a taxi. He was with another guy who said my dad shot himself, but we have our doubts. The other guy was never prosecuted. Both of them were up to no good. We will never know the whole story, but it was a big news story in Phoenix back in the early '80s. Pretty weird going back to school after that.

My gosh, man. Sorry. How old were you?

I was 15 at the time, a sophomore.

Big family with ties to Norte. A couple murdered, I am sure some have been on the other end of it as well. Blows your mins when you find out someone you used to play with when you were young went out in such a way.

T&P

I was about 3 or 4 years old when my aunt was murdered by her good friends' father. He shot my aunt, his daughter, her boyfriend and his wife. My aunt was the only one who died. The guy was an abusive (in just about all forms) POS and he snapped. He was up for parole back in 2011 after almost 30 years in prison and luckily is still rotting there.

Very sorry flap. It's a tough thing for a family to get over.

I had a nephew who was killed by a friend. Both were under the influence of alcohol at the time, and got in a fight in the kitchen; one of the two grabbed a kitchen knife and my nephew was cut and stabbed. The friend claimed that my nephew had grabbed the knife and he was just trying to defend himself; who knows what the truth was? He had a good lawyer, and was sentenced to time served plus 5 years probation.

All too often, alcohol is a #####.

My wife's Aunt lost her daughter by the hands of a Rocco LaMantia(a Mobsters son) .

LaMantia was also charged in 1979 with murder for allegedly shooting his girlfriend in the mouth. LaMantia opted for a bench trial, the judge acquitted him. The Cook County Judge was Thomas Maloney, one of the most corrupt judges in state history who was sentenced to nearly 16 years in prison in 1994 for fixing three other murder cases.
LaMantia had boasted that he would kill his girlfriend, and his dad would pay to get him off, if she ever tried to leave him(he did both).

Prosecutors approached her Aunt in an attempt to re-try the case.........she declined, stating that it would be too hard to open the wounds again.

Side note: Her Uncles funeral was a bit surreal, it was something straight out of a Soprano's episode
