Anyone ever trade before deadline just to trade? (1 Viewer)

My trade deadline is coming up this week, and Im one of the more active owners in my league when it comes to trades....For the last 5 or 6 years, Ive usually made 2 or 3 trades per year, and sometimes blockbusters...trades make playing FF more fun, and the risk/reward of trading is exciting. This year I have yet to make a trade, but only because I really dont need big upgrades anywhere...In the few areas I could use a bit of help, Id have to sacrafice starters at other positions to get those upgrades.

That, and the fact that teams in my league with guys Id target are mostly out of it and have no desire to trade with me (One more win gives me a 1st round playoff bye). My trade deadline is coming up and I almost feel like making a trade just to make one, but Ive racked my brain and cant find any way to upgrade my team at any position without hurting my lineup.

This is the 1st time in a long time I think Im just too solid all around, except for DST (played WW matchups all year).

There has only been 2 or 3 one-for-one trades in my league this year, and no blockbusters. Theres usually 5-8 trades per year in this league, so trading is down overall this year.

Any of you trying to work a last minute deal just to make one??

Our deadline was last week, I was 3-6 and the other team 2-7 and he had Alexander so I offered him Portis and T. Bell for Alexander and K. Jones. He took it.

Then the craziest thing happened. All the top teams lost and my team went off and now I am one game out of the 5th playoff spot.

Crazy. You just never know with FF.

Just traded for Stallworth today.Trying to get Cutler for a 2007 1st rounder (not overly impressed with the class, have 2 1st rounders, like Cutler)So to answer your question, yes.

that is horrendous. what guy makes that deal?? you ripped him off brutally. when you score a deal like that, then you know you have a shot to make a push towards the end. but anyone with half a brain wouldn't have done that deal with you.nice job, though. i want to be in a guppy league too. let me know when a spot opens up.

I never trade out of the need for excitement. I have seen more team ruined through trading for the excitement of dealing than teams which pulled off a great turn around by multiple trades. IMO, in a dynasty league your team should reach the point where the orginal poster is, there just is not good trade for me available.

Yeah, sort of a guppy league, only because we have to push to get the last two spots filled each year. However, I think what made the deal happen is that he didn't have any depth behind KJ. Also, KJ is quietly putting up a very solid season so no one really though anything of him being in the deal. Then Portis went down with another injury and I get Alexander this week.By the way, my roster for my playoff push:FavreAlexanderK JonesC JohnsonT.O.DriverWinslowNedney/JanikowskiRaiders/Bengals DWill play the matchups with K, D. But the rest of my team has great matchups for the next couple of weeks. I'm very excited. Plus, I play the top 3 teams to end the season. My bench sucks though so this lineup is what I'll have to live or die with. Kind of cool though. Everyone thought I was dead in the water when I was 1-5.

I traded Tatum Bell for Brandon Jacobs at the buzzer.

One because I hate all Denver RB's

Two because I have Barber, Thomas Jones and Jamal Lewis (Traded Chris Chambers at the buzzer for him too)

So I was just looking for aBarbers back up

I always try to trade right after all the bye weeks and just prior to deadline (its usually the same timeframe)

Example

12 Team Keeper League with IDP (Keep one player at every position for next year)

I had A. Crumpler as my keeper last year and drafted Winslow. Well cant start 2 TE so now time to deal A. Crumpler for some better depth at IDP.

Sent A. Crumpler- TE, R. Williams- S- Dallas, B. Berry- DE- Ari

Received

A. Wilson- S- Ariz, L. Little- DE- Stl and RB- D. Rhodes- Indy

I upgrade by 40 pts at DB, 30 pts at DE and grabbed Rhodes as a little insurance since I lost Portis. Rhodes should play more when Addai rests for playoffs.

I lose Crumpler but not really because I will keep Winslow.

Bottom Line: Do not trade just to trade. Trade to always improve your team.
