ANyone hearing anything about the TO-to-Chicago Rumor? (1 Viewer)

Adam Schefner said it was pure speculation on his part as it would make sense, but he has also denied it has any legs on twitter. These aren't the droids you are looking for...

Ya know, reporters sometimes need to just shut up.

Lots of people start "speculating" and "guessing" based on nothing more than their own ideas......

Someone says trading Brady Quinn or Terrel Owens "makes sense" huh....makes sense to who? To ESPN reporters? Unless someone actually speaks to an actual NFL team insider who works within a front office rumors should be left to guys sitting around a bar getting plowed and saying "man, wouldn;t it be cool if Randy Moss played for the Vikings again"

The Bills are just really, really bad on offense. They will drape two defenders on him a lot of the time, so he gets nullified. No one else has really shown much tenacity, so why would defenses do any different?

some people dont watch games and come here and say people suck based on current numbers and spread mass misinformation

Owens trade talk pure fantasy

Chris Brown

Posted October 14th, 2009

A well known national football journalist raised the prospect of the Bills trading Owens before the deadline because he thought it made sense. Too many people unfortunately took it as gospel.

Head coach **** Jauron confirmed that trading Terrell Owens has not even been considered as a topic.

“It’s not anything we’ve discussed, no,” said Jauron on Wednesday.

Meanwhile Terrell Owens when asked about the rumors that sprang from the initial thought process of ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Owens said he’s committed to the Bills and nothing else right now.

“Whether it happens or not I don’t know,” said Owens. ”I’m committed right here until it does happen. I’m not saying that it will, but I’m committed (to Buffalo).”

Would be a stupid move IMO. Throwing TO into the nice little mix that's developed with Olsen, Knox, Bennett and Forte is a bad idea.

The Bears WRs haven't been lighting it up, but they've been progressing better than expected with Cutler and have been getting better every week...

When Cutler was asked about this from one of the reporters he pretty much just ignored the question, this is a non story. I would be shocked if this actually came true

As with all NFL trade deadline rumors, extreme skepticism is the proper course here IMO.

The NBA and NHL folks really wheel and deal come the trade deadline.

In MLB, there's a lot of smoke and some fire.

In the NFL, it's almost always :crickets:

In CHi-Town radio, all I hear is it would be a bad move, coach speak said so as well.
most bears fans are not for it also, here is today's trib poll60% say no to TO
Very journalistically worded:"Should be Bears be interested in disgruntled Buffalo Bills receiver Terrell Owens?"

Disgruntled? Why don't they just throw in psychotic or "team-wrecking". I think the trib poll question is a little leading.

And anyone saying the Bears shouldn't even be interested is not thinking - of course they should be interested in one of the better WRs around - the question is at what cost (i.e. which round draft pick)?

4th rounder ?

Per Larry Mayer of Chicago Bears.com

In my opinion, the chances of the Bears acquiring Terrell Owens from the Buffalo Bills before Tuesday’s trade deadline are roughly the same as the Cubs and White Sox meeting in the World Series later this month. It’s not going to happen. The Bears had zero interest in Owens when he was a free agent, so why would they cough up a draft pick or a player for him now, especially given how well young wide receivers Devin Hester, Earl Bennett and Johnny Knox have performed so far this season? Again, T.O. is not coming to the Bears. I think you can trace the rampant Internet rumors back to an item in Adam Schefter’s column on ESPN.com that speculated about the possibility of the Bills trading Owens. The story mentioned that the Bears “could use a play-making wide receiver to help unseat the first-place Minnesota Vikings” and “might find it worthwhile to part with a mid-round pick for an offensive player that can help make a difference this season.” Nowhere in that passage does it say that the Bears are even the least bit interested in Owens—and they’re not.

Owens would be a terrible fit for the Bears. Cutler is a QB who has been criticized in the past for locking on to one receiver, but without having a real number 1 on the Bears, he is distributing the ball all over the place, and has played really well as a result (aside from the first half of the Packers game). Bringing in a guy who demands the ball too much would only hinder Cutler's development as an NFL QB.

Then again, I can't think of many places where Owens and his childish antics would be a good fit.

Owens is a saint in his first year or so with a new team. I'm all for the Bears trading for him(I'm sure the Bills would take a 4th or 5th rounder at this point in time) and then cutting him lose after the season. Hopefully he can teach the youngsters something, because lets be honest, every WR(well, 98% of the them) could learn a few things from TO, especially when it comes to conditioning/strength training. Once he starts to pout, send him packing...

I think the Baltimore idea is a good one. Buffalo should trade him if they can get something semi-significant.
