Anyone own a 4K Television (2 Viewers)

It was just $1999 a couple days ago on BB

Ive been all over this stuff the past couple weeks
Cool. I did verify that the X90CH at Costco appears to be the same as the X900H and that it is just a different model number used for Costco-like vendors. Girlfriend is heading there for other shopping and asked her to add it to the list:)

Thanks for the heads up on the price reduction!

Anyone with recommendations on whether to go with ultra high speed HDMI cables vs. premium for TVs that are HDMI 2.1 ready? Currently using the Verizon FIOS cables that were provided with my boxes (service turned up this past December) so not sure if those are considered premium, ultra high speed, or garbage.

These are pricier than other cords, but I just put them in after upgrading our TV, and they seem to work great. Maybe the existing cords I have also would have worked, but I run the cables through the wall, and I didn't want to have to do it more than once, so I spent the money on the premium cables.

My wife has set up her home office in our bedroom. Neither of us wanted a TV in there, but she sometimes needs to watch CNBC for work, so we put our game room TV in the bedroom, and I bought a 55-inch LG CX OLED from Costco. (I wanted to get a bigger TV, but I have in-wall speakers in that room and the 65-inch would partially block the speakers.) Man, this is a nice TV. It replaced a Vizio, and I can definitely notice the difference. The PS5 looks great on it, too.

How the x900h look?

took the wife to look at the Sony and the Q80T.  The 80 is pretty, but the $800 extra is a huge jump

She said I can get what I want, but it feels like a trap

My wife is the opposite. She initially gave me the go ahead. However, I made the mistake of showing her a lower end Sony to begin with. I should have set the bar higher and asked for an LG OLED out of the gate, so the 80T would seem like I am compromising. So now she is giving me the "What happened to the $1,400 tv you were looking at? Now you want to spend $2500??"

I botched this transaction...... :wall:

I bought the X900CH from Costco on Black Friday and we are very happy with it. We mostly watch sports and normal TV, but I have watched a few 4k movies off of Netflix and they are great.  It was a great sale and ended up saving over $1k vs the Samsung.

As long as you don't have the 2 TV's are not side-by-side in your house, you will likely be happy with either one.

This is the way I’ll handle all husband/wife transactions in the future

Perfect, thanks

I am toggling between two houses, so will not get to set up until Saturday. But encouraged by The Flying Turtle's feedback.

@The Flying Turtle, out of curiosity, is the current price what the Black Friday price was?

Ya, me too 🤷🏻‍♂️
As far as I know, Fox seems to be the only station that broadcasts 4K football games. Pretty sure the game is CBS this year. Wonder why the Masters is in 4K every year. I’m pretty sure that’s CBS as well.

I love my x900 and would buy it again in a heartbeat considering I got it for $1600 at Best Buy back in October.

But if you can "get what you want" you should get an OLED or QLED versus simply LED. The black levels (an important factor) are just great with the better technology.

Jumping from $1800 to $2600 is one thing.  Another bump to $3200 might be asking for too much

When we were in the magnolia room at Best Buy she noticed a large TV of to our right, she ran over.  “Holy ####, this looks amazing”. Her mood changed after I told her it was $10k.

what I want within reason

Looks like Samsung has a couple 75" QLED at around $2600-$2800.

I guess I've lost track of what size and price you're looking for.

I know this, there's better TVs than the 900h I bought, but for the minimum $800 price difference for the same size, I'm fine with having the money to have for other things. It really is a terrific set.

if anyone is looking at buying an OLED right now I would wait for the new LG 2021 line to come out.  The Gallery series is apparently going to be 20% brighter which, if true, will address the only real complaint with OLED's (not bright enough for HDR viewing) and make it far and away the best tv on the market.

Walking out of Costco with the 77 inch LG CX right now

I still am constantly changing audio source just to get it to re-sync with the LG OLED, so you may just be dodging a bullet there. I am unimpressed with LG. I really wish the 65" TLC I wanted had been available.

Hmmm, I’ve got 90 days to make up my mind

If you read reviews, and earlier posts in this thread even, LG sound issues are pretty well documented. But I imagine the percentage of people that actually suffer it is low overall. But if you are one of them, there is little that can be done about it. People have been waiting for a software patch for a long time.

I 10% wish you posted this a week ago, but I also know that our Sony one was WAY cheaper (and my wife blind picked it in the picture trials we did, as did I) than the LG Gallery so I probably would have made the same choice.

BB offering

$200 gift card on Q90

$400 on Q80
For how long? Because the Q80 is what I'm looking at. But then again, after I buy this TV, not sure what I could spend $400 on at BB. We lucked out with a PS5 before Christmas for the kids. I remember loving to go to BB and pick out DVD/BR disks or checking out the latest this or that. But now, BB is a lot like Sportcenter. I used to love it and now just don't care.

Not sure, I only noticed it because I’ve been looking at the Q80T

It's an amazing trend. I frequent Best Buy a lot - I just like looking at gadgets I guess. The number of people in stores has drastically, and I mean drastically dropped this past year. One store in Mpls already has plans to stop selling movies in-store.

The brightness on my 2020 OLED is more than enough at 60%. How much brighter do you need?

That's the thing. I was a chronic movie collector. Had an epic VHS collection that I transitioned to DVD and then BR and then was very selective on 4K movies. I have maybe 15. But with everything available on demand, I just don't buy movies anymore. The last movies I bought were a couple Marvel movies so we could watch all the Marvel movies in a row when Covid first started. I like gadgets, but I do most of my research online.

I will say that the $400 back would be nice, but it won’t pay for the extended warrant which Is $600 I think

Costco offered the extended warranty for free. 5 years, and a 90 return policy(BB is 15 days) no questioned asked

Did you negotiate this or did they offer? I was not there for the purchase, but this was offered only as an add on.

Didn't pull the trigger on the Q8 before the Superbowl. Gonna wait till the spring sales and hope for a big drop. But if it doesn't happen then, I'm just going to pull the trigger.

you need a 2nd TV for the reddit stonx feed too ;)

I highly recommend once you buy a TV stay away from the TV for a long while as the way they evolve so fast you will just be bummed at how fast the price for what get moves down.

OK, so I've settled on the Samsung Q8 65" as my next TV in my family room. It was $1500 through Christmas and the again up to the Superbowl. Now it is sitting at $1700. So today, I get the Costco email and see this Samsung Q8 8K 65" for $2000. I didn't want to spend this much money, but is it worth it to get the next gen stuff for only $300 more than the Q8 4K? I know, I know, there is no real 8K source content yet, but I can wait. Every time I see an 8K in the store, the pic is sick!

Talk me out of this

Well by the time there is mainstream 8k content the features and function of this set will be way outdated.....so it really boils down to how long you're going to have this TV and if you're going to be pissed you dropped 2k if you want to buy a new set in 2 years.

Why wouldn't you go with the LG OLED? The 65 inch CX is $2000 right now.

Buying an 8k TV right now makes as much sense as buying a car that is fueled by refined unobtanium.
Yeah the only reason to do it is if you have so much money you don't even know what to do with it all and you despise the idea of charity.
