Anyone starting Alex Smith week 16 (1 Viewer)

I'm leaning twords starting him for my SB over Palmer and VY. He has a great matchup, but 5 INT's in the last 2 weeks has me nervous about pulling the trigger on Smith.

i'm starting him, but as a flex. Schaub as QB.

i picked him up looking at the end of the season (we play until week 17). no reason to change my mind now. only other option really is henne. if i made that move it would backfire.

I am starting both Rodgers and McNabb over him, but I did pick him off of waivers because the guy I am playing in the finals only has Manning, and I didn't want to see Alex have a big game against me. I think he is a nice start.

Ie got him on my bench for Peyton Manning insurance, but I suspect Frank Gore will run all over the lions and keep Alex's yardage total down, hopefully he gets a td or two early cause they wont be throwing late

Right now I'll be going with Smith over Matt Cassell and Jay Cutler. Needless to say, it wasn't my QB's that got me to the championship game.

I have him in both leagues I'm in, playing for all the marbles in both and he's starting in one of them over Jason Campbell (easy choice). In the other league, I'm likely sticking with Warner unless they talk about not playing Warner a full game. I like Smith's match-up versus Detroit which was the primary reason I picked him up several weeks ago; however, I felt better about it before watching him play the last two games.

Alex is rolling for me in a 2-QB league alongside Aaron Rodgers.

Not like I've got any other options worth considering even if I wanted to bail on him (apart from Matt Moore) but I've been eyeing this matchup for a while and will start him with confidence.

Right now I have Smith in my lineup, the other option on my bench is Campbell. The only decent option on the waiver wire is Garrard and he's going against New England. Decisions, Decisions.

starting Alex over Carson this week as of right now.

Rode Smith the week Palmer was held under 100 yards.

Considering him over Mcnabb. Denver's pass D is ramked 2nd. Detroit is dead last and has given up the most passing TD's in the league.

Same here. Have Smith in there now but not sure I'll have the guts to stick to it.

I've got Brees and Brady in a start 2QB league and picked him up as insurance in case Saints start talking about not playing starters or awful weather in NE, and because I didn't want my opponent to grab him.

My opponent in Champinship has Manning and Favre.

the only decent waiver was Alex Smith. I picked him up since I had an expendable Defense. Ihe would have started Favre, over Smith. But didn't give him oppurtunity to decide.

;)

NE can clinch the division with a win this week. As inconsistent as their defense has been, I think you will see a little something extra from them this week. I'd stay away from Garrard, who is usually bad on the road.

ditto.

I am starting Rivers at QB and probably Smith at Flex. My other choice is Garrard and while he was great last week I am not liking him on the road vs New England. Smith at home against Detroit sounds tasty...

I'm starting Smith over Palmer... It almost cost me last week. I picked up Alex about 3 weeks ago and he's been my starter ever since.

Ugh...Peyton Manning and all his question marks vs. Alex Smith and his cupcake matchup. :goodposting:
Same situation. If I knew for sure that Peyton would play the whole game I'd probably start him. For now I've got Smith in my starting lineup. I have to believe that he's a lock for at least two TD's. Who have you decided to go with?

I too have switched from Manning to Smith...I can't believe I am going to rely on Alex Smith in the Superbowl :porked:

I'm still waffeling on Smith vs Palmer. I initially started out favoring Smith due to matchup, but started to lean twords Palmer due to 5 INT's for Smith in last 2 games and great outing by Palmer last week @SD were I expected him to struggle. But after looking at both matchups closer, I am leaning back twords Smith because I think Cinny is more likely to go into KC with a run heavy game plan and be sucessful at it. So there might not be much oppurtunity for Palmer to get fantasy points. SF may see this game as an oppurtunity for Smith to gain some confidence to build into next year.

I've got the same decision. Dodds seems to like Smith and Bloom prefers McNabb. I get extra points for long TD's and McNabb to Jackson has been gold this year.

Got Smith and McNabb.

I have to believe McNabb is the choice.

Now all teams face bad passing offenses, but Denver has faced: Browns (1); Oak (2); Dal (1x, up and down, completely inept at times); Balt (1); Wash (1x, not a prolific passing team and relatively inept the first part of the season); KC (1); Cincy

Some of those teams are OK, but none cause us to say, "Wow, better watch out for the air attack." Some outright suck.

Against better passing clubs (NE; Chargers 2x; Pitt; Giants, Indy) I will say Den hasn't given up monster passing yards. In 6 games they have 5 interceptions, give up about 230 yards passing/game and have allowed 11 touchdowns, though 4 of those were to Indy.

Philly has a decent air attack and is at home. With Philly's proven weasons and the chance SF will get up early and run Gore I have to go with McNabb. But Detroit certainly looks tasty and it's not an easy call.

I also face Big Ben, who has put up some questionable games lately so I am a bit more comfortable not rolling the dice to try to hit a homerun.

I can't believe I am benching a qb coming off a 500 yard game, but barring bad weather in San Fran, I am starting Smith over Roethlisberger.

I have McNabb in for Smith today. It kills me as a Denver fan. But Smith is just too risky with his INT's and the possibility of it being the Frank Gore Show.

i considered it, but i don't like changing lineups at the last minute. Staying with Smith over Mcnabb in multiple leagues. Frank Gore Show and such does make him a bit risky but Mcnabb is also a risky play against Denver and I really respect that team's pass D. To me it's a toss up, don't think you could fault anyone for going either way.

Still trying to decide between Manning and Smith. Have to leave for a flight in 45 minutes....will probably roll with Manning with today's "he'll play if it's competitive" talk. Can't imagine how much I'd hate myself if I lost because I left him on the bench.

i wouldn't be worried about that. i read into mike singletary's comments this week that it will be the Alex Smith show. they want to see what he brings to the table in the final two games to help evaluate him for 2010.
