Anyone up for some Coffee? (1 Viewer)

Dang!! Watching the the Oak/SF game online and Coffee looks fantastic!! I was really impressed with the vision he showed on his cut backs. He also showed nice power running through tackles. There is no doubt in my mind if Gore goes down, this kid will step right in and produce very, very nicely.

No doubt, I've said for a while now Coffee is a great sleeper. This guys was super undervalued. I guess that wont be the case anymore.

He's doing this against the Raiders run defense....who haven't been able to do much vs. the run since, like, what seems like the Clinton Administration.

I'd temper my expectations.

Michael Robinson is making them look like fools too, looks like its the Raiders D more than anything.

The Raiders haven't hit anyone since the coaches scrapped earlier in the week. How bad are they.

I'm not sayin I'd draft him in the 10 round. Bet even though it is the Raiders and as cst pointed out Robinson is lighting them up as well. I still like what I saw. Vison, hitting the holes hard, running through tackles. And doing what you should do against a poor run D......Light 'em up.

Oh well in that case.
What's not to like? I love Gore, always have. But he has a history of injury. Coffee is and has been falling way off the radar even though he has the ability to step in and play well.
I posted this during the post draft season, that Coffee was the most negative FGBs group think rookie in 2009. I am not in particular love with him as a player, but he was a productive, SEC RB who was drafted into a good situation that was rated higher by the NFL than by the draftniks in general. Houston was targeting him in the 3rd round before the 49ers drafted him and he was by Gossliens's league concensus ranking listed in the top 75 players. In short, he was rated (by the NFL) close to shone greene a player who rarely made to pick 10 in rookie FF drafts, but was generally taken at least a round and half later. Not convinced is the 2nd coming or anything, but I targeted him because he was a good risk/reward candidate and early returns look good. ..and yes i still know it is pre-season.

good call, Nerd. I was not overly optimistic about his transition to NFL .. but make no mistake, he has been impressive

I see Coffee as an Earnest Graham caliber back. He could be productive and average around 4.0 if forced into action, but no team is ever really going to be happy with him as their starter.

he looked fine in the other preseason game too. i like him. he was great in the sec. has talent. may get pigeonholed as a 3rd down type back due to size but he is a must have if you grab gore.

Those aren't legs, they're toothpicks.

Unless I'm a Frank Gore owner, regardless of format, I'm not interested in Coffee.

I agree. However between the positive camp reports and his performance (Yes I know its raiders D) and as an ardent 49 fan I a very pleased with the scouting department with regard to Coffee, now if only they would have seen Crabbut as being a knuckle head.
