Anyone with school board experience? (1 Viewer)

No, but a little research on the internet will likely show you to a couple S&M clubs in your local area if you're into public whippings and humiliation.

Been around a number of school board members.  What I found out is usually there is at least a group of 4  of 7 that always sticks together and votes the same way on everything so they basically control the board.  A friend of mine was on our local school board and thought he could make a difference.  What he found out if that all proposals are decided in advance knowing the outcome..so the vote is just a formality.   There will never be a board meeting like a Tribal Council where members are flipping at the last minute and the vote does not go as planned.

Also even though school board members get paid hardly nothing people back them with a #### ton on money to get them and their agendas on board.

They're pretty much like any board. Some are good, some are bad. Some are easy gigs, some are a ton of work. Some have pre-established cliques that run everything, some are open to change if a member is willing to work for it. Regardless, the most important thing is to run because of a commitment to public service and not for other reasons.

Seems like a tough job.  They don't get paid, go through elections, and then the community complains about most things they do.

I attended a couple meetings when they were looking at redrawing schools boundaries.  It isn't an easy job.

Black Lives Matter took over a school board meeting last month - LINK - I don't want the job.
