It was a dirty play and he should get fined. I don't think it's worth a suspension though.

If you were watching the end of a great game between the Broncos and Colts yesterday, you saw Aqib Taleb poke TE Dwayne Allen in the eye.

Aqib claims it was an accident.

Take another look:

Does anyone feel this was not intentional?

What do you feel the penalty should be for something of this nature? None? $? Fine? One game? More?
In the game thread we all thought it was clearly intentional. On the broadcast they agreed. That gif you posted is cropped. The video has a wider angle and you can see him coming for awhile.

His postgame comments are pure fiction. He knew exactly what he did. As the Broncos ran the last couple plays he was on the sideline on one knee looking like a guy who just ####ed up & ####ed his team.

IMO there is not question on the intent. The only question is do you fine the millionaire or do you take a game check and make him sit?

imagine the outrage if he seriously injured allen's eye and ended his career. or if it had been andrew luck on the receiving end of the poke.

Pacman ripped Cooper's helmet off and slammed his head into and received a $35,000 fine no suspension. I'd say that is going to be the outcome here. I think a game suspension would have been better but it won't happen

Talib was a great ballhawk in new england. Now you know why NE wasnt willing to pay what Denver paid. One of these days hes going to poke the wrong eyeball.

He messed with Steve Smith and Smith ripped his helmet off and was going to destroy him. He ran away. Didn't finish that game either.

The line warranting suspension can be grey. But clear intent to assault eyes is worthy of a automatic suspension. The Orlando Brown eye injury happened under COMPLETELY different circumstances. However, the NFL's settlement payment in Brown's accidental injury, along with other events and policy changes, makes me wonder if the NFL would be willing to send a strong message as to intentional battery against a player's eye.

Was totally malicious and had intent to hurt another player. Should be suspended for the season.

Eye pokes are even illegal in the UFC, where the object is to hurt each other. The league can't pull up weak on this one. Not with such clear video evidence.

Suspension warranted, cowardly play, would have sat him down the rest of the year. Guys have to control themselves and he was not being threatened, in fact he was instigating. Allen should have sought him out and cold cocked him, I sure would have and accepted whatever punishment from General Lee.

Would have given him one game for the poke, and three more for his BS explanation.

Back in the day, Lyle Alzado would've taken this as a love tap. FFers want him suspended for the year.

He could have done real damage to Allen, suspension should have been longer, fines don't mean jack to NFL players. Players like him should be treated like the punks they are.

Should've been a longer suspension. Longtime Broncos fan here, and actions like that make me ill. Bronco or not, that kind of thuggish behavior should be dealt with more severely.

Didnt he say he was trying to poke him in the face? Blame the NFL then since the only way you can do that through a facemask is right into the guy's eyes.

Seriously though, yes a fine, no suspension.

This is one of those where the punishment could easily be dependent on the outcome of the guy's eye.

I thought what Von Miller did was more egregious.

Imagine if Suh did that the media reaction would be off the charts.

Thanks for posting the link up thread, I missed that watching the game live Gonna disagree that's worse than an eye poke, which could have done permanent damage. But yeah, definitely over the top there.

Speaking of this did you guys happen to catch the knee drop by Von Miller. I on my phone at the moment otherwise I would post a link.ETA: https://twitter.com/VeteranScout/status/663885219976445952
I did.Broncos were late and cheap throughout the game. Talib and Miller both went beyond the pale. The Broncos play is going to start drawing flags. In particular I notice they like to hit Q.B.'s late, more or less like football was played back in the 80's.

They are not going to like it if other teams start treating Manning they way they are treating the Q.B.'s on other teams.

Talib back in the news.  Seems the off season for him again involves gunplay in Dallas.  This time it will not be so easy to brush off with statements that well, innocent until proven guilty and no charges were filed.  This time the bullet is, or was, in his leg.

Oh, I opened this Talib thread because I could not find the one from the last alleged gun incident. Sorry my search abilities suck. I will not take offense if a more relevant thread is bumped.

Looking forward to reading the details.

So Talib has had multiple instances involving firearms, brandishing, pistol whipping, and shooting.  Each time he dodged responsibility as others covered for him.  So Saturday night he sets out for a night of drinking and strippers.  Knowing he will be drinking, knowing he has had incidents in the past, this idiot decides "you know what, I better strap on my gun."  he doesn't think that maybe I should not go to a place where violence is any sort of possibility.  he doesn't think that maybe, if violence is a possibility I should have protection from a professional who remains sober.  Nope, he decides to carry intending to be drunk, titillated, and exhausted, partying until he can party no more. he is an accident looking for a place to happen.

On the radio this morning I heard mark Schlereth speculating that this may have been a Plaxico Buress thing.  speculation is that maybe he shot himself.  I have no confirmation of that wild speculation.
