Are the Misfits and Outlaws leagues folding? (1 Viewer)

I heard they aren't being managed much anymore. Damn shame too because they were so popular a few years ago. I know there were problems with payments recently, so has everyone been paid this year? I hope that doesn't become an issue on top of folding. A lot of good FBGs in these leagues.

In Misfits and Outlaws Xtreme Super-flex HP-4 FFL

The Commish has not signed in in 119 days and last message on Jan 26th.

I believe some in the league were paid but I was among the one that was not ($100).

We used League Safe so I don't know what's going on.

In Super-flex HP-4 with Garlicduck.

Also HP-FFL 4 (112 days no Commish visit to site)

This inactivity on top of the disarray last year (no efforts to fill vacancies, leagues folding, others downsized) and the payment issues suggest Steve has closed up shop.

kind of hard to feel bad, people have been warned for years this had turned into a pyramid scheme where he had to wait for new entry fees to come in to pay out the full prizes from the previous year.

i don't think he meant it this way but that's what it turned into and threads were made about it going back 3-4 years. People were warned, they ignored it, and while no one deserves to get scammed it was pretty clear this was going to happen sooner or later.

Unfortunate that this happened.

Though the signs were all there for a while now.

Hopefully Leaguesafe will minimize the losses.

Not all of the leagues were converted to Leaguesafe. No sign of him in months, but I'm pretty sure everyone in our league has already assumed it's dead- nobody has really signed in/made a waiver/done ANYTHING in a couple months. (Was in one of the super flex leagues)

The last 2-3 seasons have been chaotic. I was in two leagues that appear to be folding. Hope everything with Steve is OK.

I wonder how many didn't make it to LS.

Steve is fine, Im sure some random cousin of his is sick though
So glad i bailed on those about 4 years ago. When it takes that long to get paid you know something is up....
yeah 2012 was my last season, thankfully I hounded him to get paid every season and did, but the writing has been on the wall with him for years now

Last year was the first time I didnt get paid in about 10 years so I held on and didnt put in any new money. A few brave souls were trying to right the ship and get leagues moved to Leaguesafe but it seems to be all for naught. I actually received $100 thru LS a few months ago but am still owed quite a bit that I gave up on long ago. Just held on to see if I ever saw another dime so I guess $100 is better than nothing in my case.

My 3 teams are all powerhouses too, hate to give them up.

Help me understand something. How does one collect money for a league and can't pay right away as soon as the season is over, unless that person is using that money for their own personal reasons? It makes no sense whatsoever to hang on to league money beyond a few weeks after the league Super Bowl. This sure sounds like a ponzi scheme to rob peter to pay paul.

buh-bye

I check my old leagues from time to time

Looks like Steve bailed, surprised more people are not complaining about it and the lack of payouts.

That is a shame. I was in one of Steve's leagues for years, before the payments got slower and I got out a couple years ago. I'm owed nothing, but it seems other people are. He used to be a good guy. I don't know what changed; I'm just glad I bailed when I did.

There were threads years ago warning these leagues had turned into a ponzi scheme. It didn't start as one but it was pretty clear years ago it turned into one and that the commish couldn't make payouts. Anyone who believed his BS year after year had their head in the sand.

Can't believe anyone who knew about the constant late payouts stayed in these leagues.

Guess some people just aren't as smart as you.

Too bad. I was in the very first Misfits league (dominated by Couch Potato) and Steve is a fellow Marylander who seemed like a righteous dude.

I won't shed a tear when someone busts the knee caps of one of these crooks and sets an example for future crooks to think about.

Are you really getting indignant about making such an obviously bad decision?

I saw the writing on the wall and bailed years ago before I got robbed. I'm very sorry to hear others weren't so lucky and are owed a lot of money. Damn shame. I'm in another league where the commish hasn't set our playoff brackets yet and I'm worried about him as well. I guess I will know in a few days which way that league is headed. I really believe some of these guys are habitual gamblers and play with league money and when they lose they have no other options to pay.

That's what Chris Bruce / Zowned leagues did with his league's $$$.

Gambled it away.

As bad on online poker as he was in FF.

That guy was a 23 year old punk. The commish of the MOX leagues was a 55 year old grandpa or something. regardless Im surprised there isnt more of an outrage by people owned money

Steve appeared to be a good guy, so I'm not sure what happened with him and why he would do such a thing.

The lackadaisical attitude by people who have been screwed is the reason this seems to continue to happen.

joining leagues with people you dont know, for high stakes, with little to no security measures.... mistake #1

once screwed, putting in little to no effort to get some sort of retribution.... mistake #2

It has NOTHING to do with the fact that you guys can afford to lose 100-1000 dollars.... There's a lot more to it than that

I keep hearing Steve's a good guy.

I'd like to be a good guy. If a dozen of you want to send me $100 for a ff league I'd take off with the cash if it will make me a good guy.

It's just an obsolete model, that's all.

It wasn't that long ago that there was no LeagueSafe, and a lot of people had limited options for bigger money leagues.

I am guessing that a lot of people will do what I am probably heading for: 1 to 4 leagues with people you know (home leagues) and a lot of dailies.

i am in 5 leagues, and it's too many. Going down to 2 or 3 serious dynasty/keeper leagues, and spend the rest of my time on Fan Duel.

I know that we are all rich FBGs but he had 17 leagues, 14 people each at 100 bucks a pop, and that well over 22k.

I dont blame him for bowing out because thats a pain in the ### running that many leagues, however, I think he pocketed some cash and he soon realized he was sunk

leaguesafe is awful.
so is playing with random stangers
What was Steve's FBG alias name? I know it when I see it and I haven't seen it in a long long time. So my guess is that he doesn't come around here anymore and with good reason.
I think it was ravenzfan
Yes, that was it. Just as I said, I know it when I see it. Looks like that alias has been deleted. He probably requested that FBGs remove it.

I spelled it wrong. Did you look under his interests? One of them is "Going ALL IN". That explains where the money went right there. Looks like his last post was April 2013.

There's another guy that has been starting new leagues every year. He advertises on Looking for Leagues. Doesn't use Leaguesafe, and is holding over $10,000. I'm sure when the time is right, he'll be the next one to screw everyone out of their money. I've gone as far as warning people not to join a league with a guy who is the commish of something like 10 leagues and holds all the money, but no-one listens (except for a couple of people last year).

ballpark, how much money did this guy take?
I have no idea, because I quit MOX 1 a few years ago. I'm sure some of the MOX owners know this info. I read earlier he collected over 22k in fees, but I don't know how much of that wasn't paid out.

Scammers almost always appear to be a good guy. That's how they are able to get people to give them money. You would never give your money to a guy who appears to be a crook.

I think Stevet made some bad decisions that got him into trouble. I'm not sure of it, but my guess would be he's a gambler (by the going ALL IN interest in his profile) and used FF money to support that habit, or some other habit or venture. There is no excuse for what he did and should have come clean instead of hiding in the darkness. He should do what he can to make it right, but that won't happen.
