I completely understand what you're saying which IMO is why yesterday's game was so crucial. Not only because of the last drive - we all knew VY was capable of last minute heroics, not even so much because he threw a lot. But because of the last play in the first half mess. He came back from that error with flying colors, he showed he has some intestinal fortitude in the 2nd half. It will be interesting to see if he keeps it up, I think he can and will.undecided.dude has all the phyiscal ability in the world. i think the mental aspect is still undetermined.he came into a no pressure situation, bastcally, and he's flyin high. i wanna see how responds to the adversity that will come
i think he can too. but the NFL is a fickle place. a couple bad games and all the sudden he's getting the criticism again. we'll see.I completely understand what you're saying which IMO is why yesterday's game was so crucial. It seems to me this team is the perfect storm for him. Underdog mentality, nothing to "lose", built to help him succeed ... above average o-line and a running back who's skillset compliments VYs almost to a T and an ok receiving corps (no studs but a couple of solid players)I don't think VY would fit with many teams in the NFL but his current team is one that he should have no problems fitting. Now lets see how much he matures.I completely understand what you're saying which IMO is why yesterday's game was so crucial. Don't know of any Texas fans falling off the bandwagon and when did he struggle? Only two losses in his college career. I remember his first play from scrimmage like it was yesterday. He dropped back and heaved one deep and just overthrew a decently covered receiver about 50 yards downfield. Not sure he has thrown one that far in a game since. I have had season tickets since 93 and went to as many games as I could while attending from 88-93. I saw him play every down either live or on TV or both in his college career, and I can't recall anyone being especially down on him. I know I wasn't.Relatively new to this board but I have owned the other board I post on concerning Longhorns.LINK?Dude, I own the bandwagon.LHUCKS said:Probably because he was such an underdog, I find myself totally rooting for this guy...am I the only one?You should know this better than anyone, after all the arguing before the Rose Bowl...
I've been on the VY bandwagon since the first time I saw a Madison High School highlight reel featuring him. Then Texas started recruiting him and he came to Texas. I was never off the bandwagon, even when a lot of Texas fans fell off (most people don't know he struggled for period at Texas before turning the corner and becoming dominant).
Nobody has taken more #### on this board over the years for backing VY than I have.
Agreed.I wanna see consistency and how he responds like u said over the course of an entire season. His starting record doesnt exactly dictate his play but he's def. showing improvement on his reads and decision making... and yes.. he's helping the Titans win gamesManster said:undecided.dude has all the phyiscal ability in the world. i think the mental aspect is still undetermined.he came into a no pressure situation, bastcally, and he's flyin high. i wanna see how responds to the adversity that will come
Dude, you've been leading this bandwagon for years. I've said it since day one...no way was this guy worthy of top 10 pick. Leinart will have twice the career.LHUCKS said:Probably because he was such an underdog, I find myself totally rooting for this guy...am I the only one?
Even though he was winning games, there was a LOT of talk in Texas that he should be moved to WR for about the first half season he was starting. Although I don't have a link, I remember at the time that the turning point was when Mack Brown received a call from his high school coach, who basically told Mack that he needed to "let Vince be Vince."I think that Vince can be a guy that just finds a way to win, but I don't know that he'll ever be a guy that you'd be comfortable with as your fantasy QB1. I'm happy to have him as my QB2 behind Peyton Manning though.Longhorn daddy said:Don't know of any Texas fans falling off the bandwagon and when did he struggle? I will never jump off his bandwagon until he can't play anymore.

Holiday Bowl, end of 2003 season. Benched in favor of Chance Mock, who finished the game. First of his 2 college losses. He threw for 6 completions and less than 20 yards I think. He struggled much of the first half of the 2004 season, up through the Missouri game, which was a dismal performance for the Texas offense in a game they almost lost. They had also had trouble scoring on Arkansas, and had been shutout by OU. Greg Davis and Mack Brown had been trying to shoehorn him into a pocket passing role and were tinkering with his delivery. Sound familiar? They reviewed tape of VY in HS and realized he wasn't the same relaxed guy as he was in HS and decioded just to turn him loose. That's when it all turned around.Longhorn daddy said:Don't know of any Texas fans falling off the bandwagon and when did he struggle? Only two losses in his college career. QB is a thinking man's position in almost all instances and Young has yet to display the characteristics of a thinking QB. At the very best Young will have a few good years while he can rely on his athleticism, but for the most part he'll be overhyped.
I think it's too early to say definitively, but I'd probably put it at a 95% chance of being a bust...which is what I was telling everyone in this forum at the time he was drafted. He's just not very good at anything other than running the football and that isn't enough in the National Football League.
Thanks Warehouse! That was priceless!Exactly. The old "VY to WR" and "VY to Safety" posts on Hornfans. Hilarious. People ripping on his throwing motion, etc. It wasn't pretty. Funny thing, though. Winning cured all that.Even though he was winning games, there was a LOT of talk in Texas that he should be moved to WR for about the first half season he was starting.
