Arnaz Battle (1 Viewer)

Resident A

2 weeks ago, there were tons of posts about how he'd be a WR3. An even a few who thought he could end up a WR2.

2 weeks & 2 more crap games later, this guy is dead weight on my bench. Alex Smith may be the worst starting QB in the league.

I'm probably gonna drop him for an upside guy like Bowe or Roddy White. You guys hanging on to Battle or dumping him?

It's our OC's fault more than it's Smith's. They are just not taking any chances downfield. We are the polar opposite of the Mike Martz philosophy. Limit Smith's throws to short passes and keep the game close with a tough bend but don't break D.

Obviously it doesn't help the gameplan if you give up kickoff returns for touchdowns. And the big drawback to this type of philsophy, is that when you get down, you don't have the rhythm or experience throwing long and you end up making mistakes (see INT for TD). We'll see if they make any changes next week for Seattle on the offensive side of the ball. Personally, I think Battle is going to have a very nice game next week, because Gore matches up against Seattle very well and they will be gunning to stop the run. Not even mentioning that we tried to feature Vernon Davis against Pitt and he failed miserably and is now injured, again. Battle should be targeted heavily on Sunday.

well let's just say I liked Battle enough to start him against the Rams two weeks ago - after watching that game I cut him. It's not that the talent isn't there, it's just ithe 49er offense looked so bad. I would have a hard time not dumping D-Jack if I owned him too...

I rolled with him as my WR4 that week because the matchup was so incredibly strong in his favor. But if he couldn't muster up better than 2-17 against a bad Rams' defense minus its starting CBs there's no reason to believe he'll be a viable option this season. I think he's a good player but he isn't someone I'd want to be starting in any league no matter what the matchup for the rest of this season.
