Artie Donovan gets his ring back (1 Viewer)

Hall of Fame defensive lineman Art Donovan has gotten back his Baltimore Colts 1958 NFL championship ring, 34 years after it was stolen.

The saga of Donovan’s long lost ring was detailed by The Baltimore Sun. In 1977, the ring was stolen from a hotel in Hong Kong, where Donovan was vacationing with his wife. A jeweler contacted Donovan in the late 1980s, wanting to make a deal to return the ring, but Donovan refused. But earlier this year, one of Donovan’s friends noticed the ring for sale on Craigslist. Retired police officer Peter Wright, another of Donovan's friends, helped the police set up a sting, and the ring was returned to Donovan in superb condition.

"It’s just beautiful," Donovan’s oldest daughter, Debbie Donovan, told The Sun. "There’s not a ding, not a scratch on it." Police said the person who tried to sell the ring, Charles Ice II, was not charged with a crime. According to Ice, his wife’s now-deceased former husband purchased the ring years ago. Ice was unaware the ring had been stolen.

Donovan, 86, was happy to get the ring back but had always taken losing it in stride. "I hoped the one who stole it had fun with it," Donovan told The Sun. "What can you do? Life goes on. People want to ask, 'Did you weep?' There are things in this world that are more serious than losing a ring."
Artie Donovan on the Tonight Show"Fatso, you're in the wrong huddle." :lmao:

"It cost them a timeout." :lmao:

The first thing I think of when I see Art Donovan mentioned is the story he once told about playing football on a polo field. Defensive linemen would throw road apples at the o-lineman, who were lined up and unable to move before the snap.
