Artist needed (1 Viewer)

This fall I will be starting a blog about my theories on behavior, happiness and reaching equilibrium in our lives and institutions.

Got a tech guy i trust, but my artist just bailed (why is everyone my age such worthless, equivocating ####es?!). The logo (which I've already conceived) is super-important because i think it presents a merchandising opportunity but, perhaps even more importantly, i would like some drawn column headings and perhaps cartooning related to the issues. As some in this forum have pointed out before, I need a Steadman. Looking for a sketcher capable in a softer medium than comix art, although there'd be nothing wrong if they had skills there, too, and wanted to bust em out occasionally. Vital, though, would be someone who either does/will buy the program and can be a worthy devil's advocate as well as a good partner. Are you out there, Buehler?

:excited:

wp!  So happy to see you post my friend.  I can't draw for ####, but I wish you the very best on your endeavors, please let me know when any content is up, I'll read anything you post.

thx, ol pal. got home internet for the 1st time in 3 yrs and been posting about a wk. late fall launch for the blog, most likely. building a platform - technically and thematically - and a backlog, then hopefully 3-4 columns a wk. will keep you apprised

Wp, got any examples of what you have in mind?
I have a very specific idea for my logo and would have occasional suggestions for column headers, but someone who i trust and respect would pretty much have a free hand. All on spec, of course, but the time commitment wouldn't be oppressive.

Between oligarchy, jihad and Walmart people with Munschausen-by-proxy-for-profit, it's become pretty easy to be 'why bother?' when one thinks about changing the world. Everyone's selfish cuz everyone else is, people are passing the pain in public and overburdening each other in private, amassing a dizzying array of ridiculous hobbies and personae to mask how unhappy they are and ineffective they feel. What's worse, the average person is more invested in what sets him apart than brings us together, and that is a way of woe, my friends.

I have some theories on how it got that way and more on how we can help each other find meaning and value on a growing scale that will one day matter to every living soul. Happiness is ridiculously easy but, amazingly enough, even those who've found out how still won't make themselves consistently happy because deep down they don't feel worthy of happiness. I know why that is and am close enough to an accompanying framework for living that I feel comfortable writing down what people have been urging me to get out to the world for years.

Ladies and gentlemen, the victory you crave with every breath, effort and click is close at hand for any one of you. That victory is over your self, the work is light and the reward is great. Interested?

Annyong and anyone else - wanna work with me toward getting this out and having some laughs doing so and maybe even turning it all into a going concern? You're welcome to pm me with examples of your work and expression of your thoughts. nufced

It's strange. I must have some sort of FBG spidery sense because I don't pop in often. One of the last times I was in Otis was posting about sobriety and the time before that biggy was looking for an artist. Now wikkid is looking for a collaborator. Pretty weird.

If what I make isn't your think-

offdee is a pretty strong artist.

flysack is more of a writer, but he has some pretty sweet visual chops as well. He was doing some street art for a bit.

Annyong and rapidfireweasel were first thoughts. I know there are a handful of graphic designers in here too. Maybe jdoggydog? Macartist?

wOw

how do you feel about turtles?
I feel like I might be missing an opportunity to be funny or brilliant- but I actually have strong opinions about turtles.

when I was a kid in the seventies and there wasn't much on tv- I loved animal shows:

i almost invariably rooted for the carnivores-

cheetah vs. gazelle : let's go cheetah- momma's got to feed those fuzzy cubs

lion vs zebra: who wouldn't like to sink their teeth into thos meaty striped haunches

crocodile vs. mutual of omaha's Marlon Perkin's assistant Jim is trying to put a radio transmitter on it- get'em  croc, he doesn't     need both hands.

The one exception to this was baby sea turtles. I was filled filled with grief and rage as a watched one hatching turtle after another get picked off by bird, crab or other beast. I wanted to punch the birds in the throat, before that became a popular phrase/idea. With my red, hot flushed face, i wanted to stake out beaches and help out those turtles. I hadn't thought much about this in decades until this summer. I was vacationing at a farmhouse in the Georgia mountains. I have been going there for a decade and never seen a turtle on the property- even. It had been extra hot and droughty. The red clay ground was turning to shale.

I got caught onside in a torrential southern afternoon rain and waited it out under a tree. On my walk home, I saw a mother yellow and black painted turtle on the top of a hill, shoveling dirt with her legs, laying her eggs. It was awesome- it also triggered the most intense memories of being a kid watching those shows. I build a little cage around the eggs.

soo.... I'm down with turtles. The ones that make it are friggin survivors

holy cow. my turtle reference was just going along with a couple of comments by posters whose joke i wanted in on but, come to think of it, the only animal story i ever cried watching was one where David Attenborough was harshin' this bigass Galapagos turtle at 2 in the morning as she's laying her load of like 11,000 eggs far enough inland to give em a chance to hatch. but that was only the beginning because the inland lay gave her babies a vast stretch to cover to even make it to the water. their "i gotta walk real fast even tho i just started walking" floppiness made the hundreds about to begin their Gallipoli an "eat me" ad to the seabirds and they picked off dozens of the cuter-than-cats li'l buggers. before long, i'm jumpin up and rootin in these guys in like each of em is Dwight Clark against the Cowboys (made a LOT of $ on that but gave it all back by breaking my hand on the ceiling cheering), "GO, you little mother####er," as they flopflopflopped. "Hurr...gull, watch it , gull, GUUUULLLLLLLL...........YEAH!......YEAH!!" Meanwhile, Attenborough's  on&on about how even though only one or two out of 100 make it from egg to ocean, the struggle's just begun and only one in eleven make it to maturity but then they live to be 12,006 and i'm like, "Not MY turtle. #### you, ol British guy. My turtle's gonna GO!" and i realize i got tears and snot and spittle on board and i better have a beer or sumn. So i guess we're together on that. are we makin a love connection?
