The link I gave covered both sides pretty well.what is this espn? whipping up one sided stories?? Boldin had every right to be upset when his locker was cleaned out before even being notified of his inactive status.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt disputed that version of events. He said he turned in the list of inactive players to officials just before the deadline, which is 90 minutes before the game. After that meeting, Whisenhunt said he approached Boldin at the player's locker and told him he wasn't playing."I put his name down right before that 10:30 deadline," Whisenhunt said. "I was torn right up until that. He (Boldin) was still out on the field."Two witnesses to Whisenhunt's conversation with Boldin said the receiver would not look at the coach during the conversation. One Cardinals veteran expressed surprise that Boldin would complain about the issue after a victory.Over the past two seasons, the Cardinals are 5-1 in the games Boldin has missed. The dispute Sunday probably can be blamed on timing.Boldin said he "felt the best I have in three weeks" in pregame warm-ups, and wanted to play. Whisenhunt said a team equipment man probably saw the inactive list before Boldin because the receiver was still on the field. That's likely why the equipment was removed before Whisenhunt had a chance to talk to the receiver.

After 2010. And he has publicly stated he will not re-sign with Arizona.Seems like a throwaway line IMO. At the same time, no need for Boldin to be crying to the media after your team laid down a beating. Is he a FA after this year?

Whisenhunt made the call, doen't mean he communicates it to the player. You've seen hard knocks. Position coach or OC could have let him know. You think Whisenhunt cleared out his locker? You think someone else besides Whisenhunt makes that call?J
Thanks MC. I changed title to make it the exact quote. But can't imagine anyone not understanding he was talking about Whiz here.JThe thread is fine, no need to split hairs. Seems like there was a miscommunication between coach and player and player didn't like it. Combine that with maybe some of animosity Boldin feels toward the organization, and you can see things are a bit hot over there. Both sides may have been wrong, but Boldin should have, IMO, handled it a bit better after a win.

What does who cleaned the locker have to do with anything.I changed the title to the exact quote. But can't imagine anyone failing to understand Boldin was talking about Whisenhunt here.
JI am neither a fan nor a hater of Boldin, but it seems that his complaint as valid. He shouldn't have used those words to a reporter, but I recognize that people are human and they have emotions. How does an equipment man see the list at all? And why the hurry to clean out the equipment? I think this is a pretty small issue overall.Whisenhunt said a team equipment man probably saw the inactive list before Boldin because the receiver was still on the field. Could be a new slogan for FBG:"Check in with us for updates on player status. So up-to-date, we know before the player knows"

Thanks and no worries - the link I gave covered both sides. I'll always try to pass along stories that catch my eye like this. JThanks for the story J.I don't undesrstand people giving you so much heat.
they are a much better team with him active. not evn debatable.they sure missed him today.....
This is my take as well.I am a little confused. From the article, it seems Boldin's version of events are correct, even to Whisenhunt:

This certainly isn't even remotely close to anything that would ever be considered a major story. For those thinking the title is showing too much slant... in my mind, the story here isn't that Whisenhunt was a tool, it's that Anquan Boldin is calling Whis a tool to the national media. Whether events transpired as Boldin claims or they didn't is largely irrelevant- the story here isn't in the events, it's in the recounting of the events. When a receiver calls his coaching staff out on not being "man enough", that's big-time news, whether he's justified or not.

I am not sure what there is to dispute. Since Whisenhunt approached Boldin at Boldin's locker, Boldin arrived there first. When Boldin arrived at his locker, his locker had been cleaned out. So, Boldin learned that he was inactive b/c when he showed up at his locker, there was no equipment.Coach Ken Whisenhunt disputed that version of events. Then, Whisenhunt approached him. So, Boldin is right...no one spoke to him before he found out(by virtue of his equipment missing) that he was inactive. Boldin didn't claim that no one EVER talked to him(at least not from that article), just that no one spoke to him before he learned of it.
At that point, Boldin is po'd.
Again...why clean the locker out so quickly? Are they conserving the equipment or something?
In the end, I think this is small potatoes. I certainly don't think this is a grave error by Whisenhunt, just one of those slipsies that happen from time to time. If I were Whisenhunt, I would talk to the equipment person and make sure that equipment was not removed from the locker before the okay from the coach.
For starters I'd guess Whisenhunt is disputing the assertion that no one was man enough to tell Boldin ahead of time, since the article says that Whisenhunt hadn't finalized his decision until he turned the card in, then he went directly to the locker room after turning in the inactive list to the refs. It's not small potatoes to Cards fans, and probably not to Whisenhunt either after being called out like that. I suspect a lot of the Cards players won't appreciate Boldin's selfish outburst after a big win either.I am not sure what there is to dispute. Repeating my original quote from the article:...
For starters I'd guess Whisenhunt is disputing the assertion that no one was man enough to tell Boldin ahead of time, since the article says that Whisenhunt hadn't finalized his decision until he turned the card in, then he went directly to the locker room after turning in the inactive list to the refs.

Agreed they need to fix the policy of cleaning out the lockers of the inactives like it's a race.
So, Whisenhunt acknowledges that the equipment was removed before Whisenhunt spoke to Boldin. Since Whisenhunt said that he approached Boldin at his locker, Boldin was there first and saw the missing equipment.Whisenhunt comes across to me as a coach that doesn't sweat the small stuff. I don't think he puts Boldin in his dog house(like some coaches do) and Boldin has a reputation for being a hard worker, so as long as Boldin does not slack off I think Whisenhunt just lets this roll off his back. I think that is one of the many qualities that makes Whisenhunt a good coach, that he knows what to challenge and what to let go. He recognizes that Boldin is talented and as long as Boldin shows up and does his work(which by reputation he does), Whisenhunt will not have a problem with him.Whisenhunt said a team equipment man probably saw the inactive list before Boldin because the receiver was still on the field. That's likely why the equipment was removed before Whisenhunt had a chance to talk to the receiver.

Are you trying to say they are a better team without him playing ?? cause thats ridiculous.Honestl;y its best for them to part ways now , too much crap has gone on , a new start for Q and the Cards would do both sides plenty of goodthey sure missed him today.....

Coach Ken Whisenhunt is hoping Anquan Boldin’s ankle injury, now that he had a game off, will be all but healed now. But as for Boldin’s postgame remarks about his anger from not playing, well, Whisenhunt didn’t mind.
“You know what, that doesn’t concern me at all,” Whisenhunt said. “In fact, that’s kind of what you like to see, because he wants to play. I think we all know how tough and competitive Anquan is, and the fact he was upset he didn’t play is what you would expect. I certainly have no issues with that whatsoever.”
Players were given a “Victory Monday” and the day off, although many still are in lifting weights and having injuries treated, and Boldin was down working out as always this morning. For the future, events like this may not make things worse, but it does put into context Boldin’s thought process. Still, I don’t expect to be a problem going forward. Whisenhunt doesn’t see it as one, and when the team is winning, it’s tough for these distractions to gain any real traction.
P.S. Whisenhunt said the Cards were relatively healthy after the game, although he noted TE Ben Patrick did tweak his knee. Patrick went back into the game after that happened.
May be "coach-speak", but that was kinda my take on it as well.To follow up on the story:

As a Dolphin fan...I will roll out the red carpet.....go get a top line WR.Boldin has to be gone at the end of this year.
They are a better team without him playing UNTIL his injury is healed. He was visibly hobbled in the previous game which led to him not playing this week. I think Boldin is an excellent player but he is hurting the team playing with his leg as bad as it is.Are you trying to say they are a better team without him playing ?? cause thats ridiculous.Honestl;y its best for them to part ways now , too much crap has gone on , a new start for Q and the Cards would do both sides plenty of goodthey sure missed him today.....
I agree to an extent, but the bolded part needs addressing. I don't think this was a slight by Wiz, it is just some kid making $13/hr, with a sports management degree from Podunk U., reading a chart that said Boldin is inactive and cleaning out the locker. Is it a miscommunication, sure, but I have a friend that worked as an equipment man for the Carolina Hurricanes and this kind of thing is not out of the ordinary...they are foucsed on their job and the coaches are focused on the game at hand. As a headhunter, I have come to realize you get what you pay for...and sports teams pay the least to support staff...if they paid their equipment staff 60k/yr, you would get flawless results...when you pay them 30k, you get this. Just the nature of the biz...For starters I'd guess Whisenhunt is disputing the assertion that no one was man enough to tell Boldin ahead of time, since the article says that Whisenhunt hadn't finalized his decision until he turned the card in, then he went directly to the locker room after turning in the inactive list to the refs. It's not small potatoes to Cards fans, and probably not to Whisenhunt either after being called out like that. I'm not so sure about it being a throw away line. He's tried to talk his way out of ARZ before because of the contract situation. After seeing Braylon Edwards/Jay Cutler/Larry Johnson all leave teams like they wanted even though they were still under contract it's not out of the question to think that Boldin is at the very least laying the ground work for his own departure perhaps after this season.I'm always on the side "you signed the contract" but it has to be rough when you lock yourself into a deal for that long. Compare what he could get on the open market today to what he could have signed for on the open market two years ago. He'll be over 30 at that point and he's a very physical receiver who may have already started breaking down. Unfortunately it seems like players lash out at the team instead of their agents for getting them into those long contracts in the first place. After 2010. And he has publicly stated he will not re-sign with Arizona.Seems like a throwaway line IMO. At the same time, no need for Boldin to be crying to the media after your team laid down a beating. Is he a FA after this year?
I definitely think it's coach-speak. The only thing worse than Boldin making himself the story instead of the win would be the coach engaging him and dragging it out. He washed it over and they're moving on. But that doesn't make Boldin less of a jerk.May be "coach-speak", but that was kinda my take on it as well.To follow up on the story:
