As a Giants fan, I miss Toomer (1 Viewer)

Amani Toomer was never a big fantasy stud but what he always did was make THE clutch play of the day many, many times. I remember against the Packers in the NFC championship game he had a huge one. There were many more including in the Superbowl that year.

Watching Manningham's poor performances the past few weeks made me miss Toomer's toe tapping catches. Eli played a pretty good game last night. Stats were great but his fumble... :lmao:

THe botched plays by Manningham might have made the difference. Nicks needs a little work but he did make up for some of his mistakes. I also miss Steve Spagnola but that is a whole other thread <_<

Good job Eagles, I hate you more than ever but I have to respect you.

Sorry but this isn't a fantasy football vent but a real team football vent so I figured it would be ok here. :D

He was a beast in 2002 especially on Championship Week. Every other year he was either bleh or meh but for some reason he put it all together for his career year in 02.

As an Eagles fan I don't not miss Toomer or any of the other players you mentioned.

And you can include Strahan and his bad teeth. :goodposting:

The crazy part is the Giants almost won that game, had over 500 yards of offense, but the catches out of bounds hurt, Toomer would've caught those with both feet in somehow.

As a Giants fan I miss having a good defense
:goodposting: To the OP, I am befuddled that after last nights game, the strong impression you got that deserved a new thread is that we need help at WR?!?Manningham ran some crappy routes and Nicks dropped some balls (although he made some great catches too) but after throwing that ball all over a very solid Eagles secondary the one part of the Giants game I'm comfortable with going forward is the passing game.I miss a good defense.I miss an offensive game plan that will continue to feel the ball to our 265 RB and shorten the game.Smith is filling in just fine as the reliable receiver.

I love Toomer but at this point with the "speed" he has left, would still be running his route this morning.

Outside of the pathetic D showing, this really stood out. Jacobs was finally running strong, breaking tackles, etc...and then Bradshaw comes in. Outside of a couple of runs, it seemed he was stopped cold on almost every play. A real head scratcher IMHO.

I was #####ing and moaning about this all over the game thread.First, it comes out that they have been running Jacobs on the plays that went to Ward last year; East-West running plays. A terrible misuse of a pounding RB.

Now every time Jacobs gets into a rhythm, they pull him for Bradshaw who is running on two bad ankles so he can barely make a cut and looks like he is running through molasses.

Pound the ball with Jacobs to soften the opposing D and shorten the game.

Play aggressive defense. Not this simple scheme that gets no pressure and plays 10 yards off of every receiver.

Bring in Bradshaw/Ware late to finish the game.

This isn't rocket science. This is Giants football.

Send Gilbride and Sheridan packing and don't let the door hit them on the ### on the way out.

It's hard to believe just how unpolished Manningham is as a receiver. Nicks clearly has a lot of potential though.

Call him clutch if you want, but he only caught 54% of his targets, which is pretty low for a receiver who's supposed to be the "possession" guy. (Plaxico was at 49.6%, btw). The current crop of Giants WRs have caught a much higher percentage of targets than Toomer or Burress.

There were many other factors that contributed to the loss. The fumbles, the horrendous defense, the mcnabb fumble that no one jumped on. And Toomer may be too slow now... I just got nostalgic seeing manningham not come through like Toomer often did.

I wonder if we are going to see Ramses Barden at all this season (not that I think he is a savior or anything just curious to see what he can do)

The defense is simply atrocious
