This new bumper class offers some variety of Te's, Is this one of the better classes of Te's to come out in awhile?

J.Cook

B.Pettigrew

J.Casey

C.Coffman

T.Beckum

Of the top 5, which is the one te you are targeting in your fantasy drafts.

Whichever ends up in Philly.Shawn Nelson is right up there too.I like Casey a lot. Seems like the type of te/slot hybrid that can rack up a lot of receptions.

He's not the best TE in this class by no means but a player I really like and a player that will be a value pick is imho Richard Quinn out of North Carolina. To me he seems like a poor mans Brandon Pettigrew in that he can block extrely well and catch the ball relatively well.

Don't nap on Cornelius Ingram. For FF purposes, he may be the best of the bunch.
Exactly what I was going to post. Due to his knee injury a year ago, he is out of sight, out of mind. If he had played in 2008, I really think you would be talking about a 1st round TE.

For what matters most to us - receiving ability - it is one of the better classes to come out.

Casey could be special, like an oversized Welker with a Tim Tebow dimension. He's got amazing hands (100+ receptions, holder on kicks). He's thickly built and physical (former DE). He's not Vernon Davis, but he's more than fast, quick, and agile enough. He's a strong runner after the catch and scored six short yardage TDs as a wildcat QB.

you already know I'm there with you too.

Casey looked very good on his pro day even throwing the ball. I think he has now entrenched himself into at the very least the 2nd round of fantasy rookie drafts. Very interested on Cook and Coffman as well. Alot of these guys will fall to the 3rd round or farther...which will provide some very good value for rookie drafts.

Thank God!

As far as receiving TE's, and for fantasy purposes we're really not concerned with blocking, I'd rather have Nelson, Casey, or Ingram than any of them.

If I was targetting the 1st TE off the board at this point I would be leaning toward Nelson and Casey. If I was looking for best value of a later selection it would depend more on situation and who is dropping into the 3rd round of the fantasy draft.

I like Coffman once the season ended he was looked as the number two TE until he had the injury and could do a lot of the offseason work. Coffman runs great routes, has excellent hands and nice size. I think Pettigrew is the best NFL TE but I believe Coffman is the best fantasy TE.

here's some of my notes from the combine thread:

Just from what I saw and what they showed.

Branson- did ok and showed ok hands. Didn't look real natural catching the ball.

Bronson- not good. Hands are suspect.

Casey- If he had not dropped that last ball he would be in the colston hands department. Very natural catcher. Stayed under control. May not be a burner but showed functional speed.

Drew- looked very, very good catching the ball and showed very good body control. Showed functional speed.

Gronkowski- did ok. Nothing special.

Hill- Popped off the screen. Showed natural skills and may have did this drill the best.

Johnson- not good

Ingram- did ok but seems like a bodycatcher. I dont really like those.

Morrah- did ok

Nelson- looked great showed great hands and burst.

Pascoe- did ok.

Pettigrew- may not be fast but that looks like the only weakness. He plucked the ball ran smooth. Very business like.

Quinn- Looked great in the drill.

Sperry- he was decent but nothing more.

James Casey is the wildcard. For some reason, I picture him on Indy

Anthony Hill- NC State

For those who care, Casey is a high character guy as well. Coaches, teammates and everyone else have nothing but good things to say about him.

I'll be a lot more concerned with the situations these players find themselves in. If a good tight end doesn't get any looks, that does my fantasy team no good.

Be careful - like Keller, some of these guys can create their own situation. The Jets didn't exactly lean on the TE, but when they moved up to take Keller, it showed that they were open to altering the offense to accommodate a player with his strengths and weaknesses.Casey, Coffman, and Cook are all pretty one-dimensional when it comes to playing inline TE - if a team takes them, chances are they are going to incorporate them into the passing scheme, even if they didn't have a role for player like them up to this point. Shawn Nelson probably qualifies too, but he showed some promise as a blocker at the Senior Bowl. Beckum doesn't quite quality because he's not a premium prospect physically.
