Assemble Your Salary Capped All-Time Band (1 Viewer)

Screw the rules -- I'm going to be $1 over budget:

Singer: Freddie Mercury -- $10

Lead G: Brian May -- $3

Rhythm G: Jimmy Page -- $10

Bass: John Paul Jones -- $1

Drums: Stewart Copeland -- $2

Ozzy - 4

EVH - 5

Iommi - 4

Bootsy - 5

Carey - 3

Might trade Ozzy for Jimbo and spend the three bucks on a 40oz.

Without looking at everyone else's responses ...

I went at this on an immediate-impression basis, with an eye on value. John Paul Jones stood out like a sore thumb at $1 -- I get a top-notch bassist and keyboardist for a buck? That allowed me to peg Freddie Mercury's GOAT-contender vox and his ridiculous versatility for $10. Brian May for $3 was also a huge steal (though Prince at $8 was very intriguing). Steart Copeland was also criminally undervalued at $2 ... probably a top-3 drummer on that list chops-wise.

Then I got stuck with four guys and $9 left to spend. This is a complete band, IMHO, and none of the Rhythm Guitarists offered were really compelling me to slide into this lineup:

Vox - Freddy Mercury $10
Lead Guitar - Brian May $3
Rhythm Guitar -

Bass - John Paul Jones $1
Drums - Stewart Copeland $2

But, that's not the game -- gotta pick five. Of the Rhythm Guitaists available, The Edge is the best at staying out of the way of the other players ... so he gets the gig/ Still got $3 left to spend ... but these are my 5:

Vox - Freddy Mercury $10
Lead Guitar - Brian May $3
Rhythm Guitar - The Edge $6
Bass - John Paul Jones $1
Drums - Stewart Copeland $2

Pretty close. Were you wishing that you could slide Prince in at <ahem> 'rhythm guitar' next to May (I was wanting to do that).

Frontman: Steven Tyler - $2
Lead Guitar: Eddie Van Halen - $5
Rhythm:Tony Iommy - $4
Bass: John Entwistle - $8
Drums: Keith Moon - $6

Also ... It wasn't my game, but I think I could've found a way to include Steve Perry over one of Axl Rose and Jim Morrison. Maybe Geoff Tate, too.

Frontman - Freddie - $10. There is no better frontman and no better use of the money in this endeavor.

Lead Guitar - Clapton - $4 - Steal at that price.

Rythym Guitar - Edge - $6 - Him and Freddie would be awesome

Bass - John Paul Jones $1 - Because I want a specific drummer and the bass in this cast is only for backdrop anyway.

Drums - Dave Grohl $4 - happy with him since there is no feasilbe way to get Freddie and Bohnam together.

Frontman: Jagger $9

Lead Axe: Clapton $4

Rhythm Axe: Neil Young $5

Bass: John Paul Jones $1

Drums: Grohl $4

Surprised no one else mentioned this but there are numerous singers other than the frontman, so I leaned towards musicians at the other spots who can provide vocals as well to lend itself to a more diverse repetoire of songs/music. I had the cap space to go with 1 of Mercury or Prince, but I think Jagger/Clapton/Neil would be a much better fit with each other, mind would be blown if those guys actually had made an album together. Went with Grohl again for the ability to provide vocals and he has what it takes on the drums for a blues rock band like this, and went with JPJ because I wanted a bassist whocan bring those booming basslines over someone like Sir Paul who couldve rounded out 5 singers for this band.

 No, I didn't put much thought into it -- went with value (similar to you), was left with rhythm guitarist as the last one (again, similar to you), and then decided I didn't want to play by the rules (Kobayashi Maru) so I went over budget.

That's almost exactly the way I was thinking.

Chemistry was a big consideration, and I think these guys would blend in well. Freddie could still be the master showman, with a killer band behind him absent of any prima donnas to try to steal some of Freddie's thunder.

McCartney is easily the biggest steal on the board. For $2 you get a fantastic bass player, guitar player, keyboard player, vocalist, and the top selling songwriter in the history of the world. Could record an album alone.

Anyway,

Drums Grohl $4

Bass Macca $2

Lead Guitar Gilmore $7

Rhythm Young $5

Vocals $3 Bono
