Assuming rookies will move (1 Viewer)

This is a common theme in the Shark Pool.

Team drafts a running back, immediately the talk is "well, Team X is pushing their incumbent out the door. It's obvious! They wouldn't spend a 4th Rounder on a running back if they had faith in their guy!"

Sure, the rookie might be #3 or #4 on the depth chart but he's a LOCK to be the #1 at some point this season so... hurry up and draft him! All the signs are there! He's young, fast, the incumbent is in his 8th year, barely cracked 1000 yds last season, the team missed the playoffs... they want to upgrade at RB!

Then, inevitably (in most cases) the hyped rookie sits on the bench all year. Talk cools some in season 2 but there are still plenty of believers, "He's the guy!". Only he's still #2/#3 on the depth chart and barely plays.

Year 3 rolls around and it's "Make it or break it time! He's going to show the team he's the man this year!". Only he never gets off the ground and in season 4 he's gone.

NOT EVERY ROOKIE RB IS GOING TO WIN THE STARTING JOB IN HIS FIRST YEAR! It happens. Just because they look flashy and fast in the pre-season vs. the 2nd and 3rd team defenses does NOT mean he will start this year.

So much BS floats around, people get over-hyped, SPers go bananas about the Dolphins 6th string RB.. and then he gets cut.

I was certain that Furley was going to ask how you would order the RBs, assuming that they all are #1!

That was the funny post I was expecting from Furley, not this honest criticism.

What's next, Otis discussing politics?

shouldn't you be in the FFA?
No I think this thread is fine right here. It's certainly relevant considering the Lundy (and other rook man love) going around.
Lundy has been named the starter for Week #1. The assumption is over.
so we THINK Lundy will be the starter.. that's 1what of Chris Perry, Deshaun Foster, Cedric Benson, etc. in years past. guys who WE ALL KNEW would be starters in game 1 of their rookie season.. it was more than a LOCK it was a foregone conclusion.well...... wha happen?

can't i just be a FF NERD FOR ONE DAY!!!!!!!!!

C'mon. Suggs is the real deal. Calhoun is the second coming. You guys just don't recognize talent!

And, the reality is, that all of these late round running backs are getting hyped on the board as a  .

I'm new aroud here, but I'm suspecting Furley resides in the off topic area more than anywhere else. So they are commenting on why he is posting about FF stuff.

Just a hunch. :D

Are you saying that you don't think Reggie is going to take over as the #1 running back in NOLA this year?

pick a rookie from the past 15 years.. any rookie... the ones that are allegedly "locks" to take the starting job in the pre-season.

very few actually do so.

just wondering why people get all bent out of shape over guys like Lendale White.
