Woke up this morning at 4:30, wide awake. Alarm goes off at 6. I tried to stay in bed but at 4:45, I said "Screw it" and got up

Probably 75% of weekday mornings. I have no problem sleeping in on weekends. On weekdays, though, I usually wake up a little, start thinking about work, and then realize that I'm awake so I might as well go ahead and get up. I find it impossible to roll over and go back to sleep.

I literally never rely on an alarm to get up. Even on mornings when I know to get up super-early because of travel plans or running or something like that, I just naturally wake up on my own.

Never happens. I'm good getting up when the alarm goes off at 7 b/c my body doesn't mind getting up at that time, I've gotten my 8 hours and I know I have stuff to do to get the kids ready and out the door.

When this happens I don't base getting out of bed on how long it is from when my alarm goes off but what I think my chances are of falling back asleep. I will usually give myself 15-20 minutes to try and fall back asleep if it doesn't happen then I will say #### it.

Same. I'm not a good sleeper in general and I can tell pretty accurately if I'm going to fall back asleep or not. Basically if I'm consciously saying to myself "Will I be able to fall back asleep?" that means no.

Even if I'm up for hours before work, I'm much less tired and have less of an issue getting through the day if I go out on the couch and watch some TV than if I stay in bed actively trying to get back to sleep.

Yup. And if I 'wait it out' and manage to fall asleep again I am more likely to oversleep as well.

I don't use an alarm, my bedroom has a lot of windows and we choose not to have window treatments so most days I am up at dawn with the rising sun. It's a great day to wake up. However on the nights where I wake up and can't fall back asleep it throws off my rhythm if I force myself back to sleep and I do oversleep.

I read. Usually get back to sleep. I don't have a job to wake up for though. I crash for a couple hours in the middle of the day all the time, but I think that may be why I have insomnia.

The only time this happens to me occasionally when I have to get up at like 2 or 3am. I'll wake up too early and then be afraid if I fall back asleep, I'll sleep through the alarm. I don't usually get up though, I'll just lay there until the alarm goes off. Since I don't have a set schedule, I'm usually really tired and sleep until the first alarm.

I get out of bed as soon as I wake up, regardless of what time it is. I can never go back to sleep if I've gotten over 4 hours of sleep or so. And the strange thing is, the later I stay up the earlier I wake up the next morning, because I'm worried about being overtired and sleeping through the Alarm, plus I always wake up thinking I overslept.

I have a standing 6:30 meeting, and sometimes have a 6:00. On days with a 6:00 I try to wake up around 5. Last night I went to bed around 1, woke up at 4:15 thinking I had overslept, got out of bed saw the clock and walked to the Keurig, oh well.

It varies, but if I ever wake up and I notice I have to go to the bathroom, I always try to fall asleep again really quickly. I figure if I zonk out quickly enough, I won't have to get up to go. It never, ever works, but I still try every single time.

Don't even set an alarm... Have a kid to wake me up about 2 hours before I need to.
We had a dog (boxer) that would get up around 5 or 10 minutes before the alarm and put her chin on the night table, and look at the alarm clock waiting for it to go off. She knew that meant it was time for a walk.

If I'm awake 20 minutes or less before the alarm, I'll probably get up, though it depends on how tired I am.

I stay in bed until my little ones wake me up. Even if I cant sleep, I enjoy the warmth and coziness until I have to start changing diapers and making breakfast and ####.

Waking up early is an invitation to jerk it and pass back out into a peaceful slumber, what is wrong with you people?

My alarm goes off at 4:30 so I can make it to the gym and back to get my kids ready for the day care.

I'm pretty sure I could solve world hunger with the mental gymnastics put into getting out of bed each morning.

Wife is always amazed at how I just jump up to go.(if only she knew my inner struggle)
