Atlanta homers -Is Atlanta GM McKay's job in jeopardy as well? (1 Viewer)

As a Falcons fan, i would love to see them bring in a strong coach like Cower to revamp a franchise w/ a long histroy of losing.

McKay hasn't done much as a GM and one could say that much of the team's problems can be somewhat attributed to him, especially the way he panders to Blank. From the little Falcons news I get here in NY, it seems that a lot of team insiders arent' too crazy about McKay as well.

Obviously, a lot of teams are going to be after Cower and he would either want full control or to bring in his own GM. If it's true that McKay isn't well regarded within the Falcons organization, wouldn't it be smart to lose him as well if it increases the possibility of landing someone like Cower? Anyway, just wondering if there was any truth to the rumors that McKay isn't highly regarded within the Falcons. thanks!

From what I have heard, Cowher does not intend to coach next year. Maybe 2009.
too bad ... sounds like the Falcons are going after Singletary anyway. Fixing the falcons is going to require a huge overhaul and giving the job to a guy w/ zero headcoaching experience is a questionable call ... oh well, atleast the Falcons are consitent

Why would Cowher want that job ? The Falcons are years away from competing.
Why? Until inury decimated the D-Line, they had a top 15 defense, that could've been better if they had ANY offense at all. All we REALLY need on offense to be competetive is some serious oline help. People forget how close games were in the first half of the season, before Petrino had already mentally moved to Arkansas. There's more talent there than people think.Anyway, yes McKay's seat was already getting warm, I think, and the heat just turned up. Petrino was McKay's call, when Blank wanted Singletary. I believe there will be a new GM come off-season. I'd love to see Cowher. Marty might be a good one, too, or Singletary.

I've watched several Falcons games this year (I was just at the dome for MNF). I don't see it.
Fair enough, if you've watched and that's your opinion, but I'll disagree. Remember that Houston is a rookie, and has shown it this year, but I think he'll be good. Stone and Irons should get more time as they get more seasoned to replace Milloy and Crocker. I would say average WRs and agree on QB and oline. But we're hardly years from being competitive, especially in the NFL and ESPECIALLY in the NFC South.

Roddy White is becoming a stud... Michael Jenkins, Joe Horn, and Robinson are underwhelming... I don't see Cowher coming here unless Blank opens up the checkbook & offers him the highest paying coaching job in football.
