Attention Tomlinson Owners (1 Viewer)

Turner's sore/injured hammy will keep him out this week. Pinnock is listed as LTD's backup.

With fantasy playoffs around the corner and free agency deadlines approaching in some leagues, this raises some questions for the astute LTD owner:

1. Will Turner's hammy continue to nag him, or is he likely to be back behind LTD in the next week or two?

I haven't been able to find much on Turner, other than all the threads about whether he will be back in SD next year.

2. Obviously, adding Pinnock could be a good move as you would hate to be the owner that drafted/purchased LTD and the Turner handcuff only to end up with no piece of the SD backfield if, heaven forbid, LTD were to get nicked and Turner's injury persists. This begs the question of whether Pinnock is any good?

My thoughts: he's not the automatic substitution that Turner would be, but given how SD is playing right now, would have some decent value, imho. And I say this without being able to recall how he looked in preseason...

3. In leagues where roster sizes are limited and/or there is a salary cap, do you drop Turner for Pinnock, if Turner's injury looks like it will continue to limit him for this season?

My thoughts: in a keeper or cap league, hold onto Turner if you can, even if Turner's injury will keep him out for fantasy playoffs. Turner's value is too high as a possible starter elsewhere in 2007 (RFA) or 2008 (UFA). He'll probably be back in SD next year, imho, but you shouldn't toss away a nice looking potential starting RB/trade bait.

Interested in what others think about grabbing Pinnock etc., or whether it is a waste of time.

I picked up turner off the waivers in week 3, and I truly believe that he is going to be playing for the giants next year. Since I already have 3 solid rbs in rotation with Westbrook, KJ, and Reggie Bush I am happy Turner gets to rest this week. I think he is going to be gold come playoff time. I have a first round bye in both my leagues so hopefully Turner will be back next week and SD can rest the starters heading into the playoffs.

I don't see Turner playing again until his hamstring is 100%, or LaDainian can't go, which ever comes first. They (the Chargers) led us believe right up until gametime last week that he was probable and then they deactivated him, so I think they're just not going to take any chances with him. I'd figure he'll be out against the Bills again this week, as (no offense to the Bills) the Chargers have bigger games coming up and would rather have him be 100% for those and the playoffs should they get there.

So Pinnock may be a guy to have, but I think if Turner or LaDainian really are out for an extended period of time one of the guys on the practice squad would be activated and get more time than Pinnock, as they've both (Perkins and Gross) shown more than Pinnock.

With Denver and Kansas City both 7-4 and only 2 games behind SD I don't think the Chargers are going to be resting any players anytime soon.

If SD wins their next 3 games I guess anything is possible, but they have to win those games 1st.

SD is 1 game behind IND in the standings. They need to win to keep pace and hope that CIN can upset IND in a few weeks.

Turner is not playing this week.

The Chargers will welcome back linebacker Shawne Merriman from suspension tomorrow, but they'll play for the fourth straight week without defensive end Luis Castillo (ankle) and the second straight without safety Marlon McCree (calf). Both players said they were targeting next week's rematch with Denver for their return.

Also out tomorrow is running back Michael Turner (hamstring). Andrew Pinnock again will back up Tomlinson, and rookie Antonio Cromartie will handle kickoff returns.

The Chargers can win in Indy - they did it last year, and they're arguably a better team this year. I don't think they're too concerned with the #1 seed. The biggest games left on the schedule for them are the Broncos next week and the Chiefs, both in San Diego. If they get those two I definitely think banged up players will get a rest prior to the playoffs. But there's a lot that can happen between then and now.

I don't see the Charger resting players, they have to keep ahead of the Ravens who have the tiebreaker on them to get the 1st rd bye

Even if the Chargers and Indy have the same record, Indy will have the better conference record, since their only loss to date is to Dallas. So in order for the chargers to jump to the #1 seed they need to win out and have Indy lose twice.

You're right. This would give SD reason to rest guys if they could not improve or lose their current playoff ranking(#2). LT would rest, Gates, maybe Rivers too.

My opinion, Pinnock will continue to spell LT this week, but LT will get almost all the carries.

My only fear is while Turner is still nursing his hammy, that SD changes the game plan to limit the number of carries / opportunities for LT to get nicked up.

If LT doesn't break one big this week, I don't look for him to have many yards, as I don't see SD playing grind it out game against Buffalo. "course if anyone can break a big one, it is LT. :moneybag:

I seriously doubt he plays for Giants.. Besides I think he is a restricted FA.. Very doubtful he leaves.. Besides Jacobs will be the starter next year.. Even Tiki endorses him..

Oh, yes, let's all  down to coach Tiki. Until I see Jacobs take a shot at the 'load', call me skeptical at best concerning his ability to carry the load. I've already seen more evidence that Turner can handle the load than Jacobs.

The Chargers rested everyone with a hangnail last week against the Raiders. I do think they're going to be pretty cautious about not rushing guys back right now.

Waste of time. Pinnock might get 1-3 carries a week while Turner is out, but that's not going to help your fantasy squad. If Tomlinson and Turner are both out, I think Ray Perkins (currently on the practice squad) would probably start over Pinnock. Pinnock is more of a fullback type guy, and is a backup to Neal more than he's a backup to Tomlinson/Turner.

Regardless if Turner can handle it full time or not.. He isn't going to be a FA. I can't see the Giants making another trade with the CHargers for a long time.. As the one they made so far is completely lopsided. :lmao: Still with all that from what I have seen of Jacobs he is a complete back.. Power and speed. Durability we don't know yet but I am willing to bet Jacobs gets a shot.. Turner is still a Charger come next year..

:goodposting: I guarantee you the Chargers will be more focused on having everyone healthy and rested heading into the playoffs (should they get there) than they will about home field. Home field isn't going to help you if your starters and key players can't play. I'd also think that what happened to Brees last year will be very prominent in the Chargers' thinking.
