Auction Optimizer Tool (1 Viewer)

This is a powerful tool designed to leverage historical league data to maximize VORP values during an auction draft. It can be downloaded here as the 'solver' file: https://easyupload.io/mf6prt.

Simply copy your average auction values and historical VORP (or PPG) for each positional player.

Here are the input instructions:

  1. D3: Enter your budget for the starting lineup.
  2. D8: Enter the number of starting QBs.
  3. D10 – D12: Enter the maximum number of RBs, WRs, and TEs that can be drafted.
  4. D14 – D16: Enter the minimum number of RBs, WRs, and TEs that can be drafted.
  5. D18: Enter the total number of starting players.
In Excel, go to Data > Solver, click Solve, and Excel will generate the optimal starting lineup to maximize VORP for your auction draft.

This sheet was created by the fantasy community a few years ago and was found in a forum. Unfortunately, I don’t have the creator’s details, but I’ve been using it successfully every year.

This is good stuff. I should share mine. This one works similar to my own solver, but I made mine a bit more user friendly as it attaches player names to the positions.

The way I use this isn't necessarily to target a specific roster, because in an auction you need to be way more flexible than that.

I use mine to look at how the solver is trending at each position. For example, this year, no matter how I tweak the prices, it's pretty much screaming at me to go cheap at QB/TE, and spend big for two stud WRs and one stud RB.

It's also telling me that we as a league (and maybe the whole FF community) are undervaluing Christian McAffrey in general. My estimated auction price in my league for him is $37, but you have to drive his price up to $46 for Solver to stop adding him to the optimal team. Of course, this assumes a healthy MCaffrey, and his calves are scaring me off him right now.

Thanks for sharing. I use the sheet mostly for tiers. For example, in our league, it is telling me to go QB2, RB1, RB31, WR5, WR30, WR31 and TE8. This will help to to target specific tiers for each position, with a range of players to target within that tier at the proper price.
