Auctionguys, which <$5 players are you targeting? (1 Viewer)

Have to admit, haven't had as much time to prepare for my auction as usual this year.

I usually like to tier some guys at each position so I know who to target in certain spots.

(For example, QB $30-$25 / QB $25-$20 / QB $20-15 / QB $15-$10 / QB $10-$5 / QB <$5)

Looking for some good candidates at QB, RB, WR, TE to target in that <$5 range, the closer to $1 the better.

Who are you guys targeting?

For those that have drafted, who were your low cost buys and why?

TIA!

Different people have different starting $ amounts...but very low cost guys I'm targeting:

Kyle Orton

Trent Edwards

Chris Henry

Dustin Keller

Ted Ginn

Cadillac

James Davis

Shaun Hill

Leon Washington

Darren Sproles

Earl Bennett

Several, if not most, of these guys will go for a bit more than the low price I'm willing to spend, as they're mostly the popular sleepers. But a few of them will fall to my $ amount.

QB - Hill or Flacco

Both had strong 2nd halves and are solid #2s.

RB -

Taylor - some RB in NE will get 10 rushing TDs

Scott - better than Benson

JDavis - better than Jamal

MBush - very high upside, floor is okay flex option

Coffee - high upside if Gore gets injured

WR -

Hixon - best WR in NY

Bennett - gold opportunity, esp PPR

Morgan - best WR in SF

Harvin - doubt he will go that cheap, depends on owners

Henry - doubt he will go that cheap, depends on owners

TE -

ZMiller - if he scores more TDs this year he will make the leap

Shiancoe - under the radar last year, and Favre has to help

Fasano - underrated

$250 cap, 14 teams. My low-cost buys (aside from K and D, which no one ever spends big on):

Celek $3/McMichael $2. TEBC.

Sidney Rice $3. Not high on Berrian this year. I think Rice figures more in the offense than people expect.

Jamaal Charles $4. Because I also bought LJ. Charles could have value in his own right because it's a PPR league.

Jason Campbell $2. Your average backup QB goes for $4-8 usually. Guess the rest of the league thinks Campbell is below average.

Bernard Scott $2. A big sleeper pick for me this year.

Deion Branch $1. I needed another body at WR and I figured no one would bid him up.

Sammy Morris $2. All NE RBs are lottery tickets. This one cost the least.

Austin Collie $1. WR3 in Indy usually has value.

Matthew Stafford $1. Can keep him for $6 next year if he pans out.

Mike Wallace $1. Had to spend my final dollar on someone.

I agree with several names mentioned in here.

Coffee

Harvin

I'm actually going to bid $1-2 on Chester Taylor. Most likely, he'll simply rot on my bench. But in an emergency scenario, he could fill in as a #2. And if ADP goes down, insta-stud!

Michel Bush/Fargas are two more cheap names.

Chester is a good cheaper target but I'd never let him go for $1 or $2 in an $200 cap type auction. He's one of the few proven handcuffs/backups/ppr catching that should demand a premium in most leagues - drive him up and/or get him to trade to the ADP owner. If that fails and ADP goes down you're going to be ahead of the game.

:shrug:We have a shade over $130, so that's about what he'll go for. If I happen to drive his price above that, then I still win because it's less $ and roster spots that owner has for other picks.

None of these guys went cheap in my auction -- but it's a 14-teamer.
Yeah, I can see that. I was basing it on a 14 team auction I did about a month ago where all but Harvin went for $3 or less. And I was the one who spent $11 on Harvin. But things change. I don't think Hixon or Bennett's situations have changed much. Morgan gets the boost of no Crabtree. Harvin and Henry have much hype behind them - I doubt they are that cheap now.

I'm looking at some of those, too; but mine's a 10-team league so I have a better chance of them slipping through.

Just to give an idea, those are appx. what these guys have been going for in my leagues. PPR, $400 cap. Start QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1Flex, 1TE, K, D.

Guys I like that are cheap:

QB Matt Leinart, good end of bench guy. Could be a top-10 QB if Warner gets hurt.

RB: Cadillac Williams, I don't think people trust him enough to spend much on him, they may be right, but at the price, its easily worth the risk.

WR: Chaz Schilens, Now that he's hurt he should be cheap again. Once he gets healthy(which could only be another 3-4 weeks) he should easily ascend back to being the Raiders #1.

TE: Vernon Davis, now that nobody is counting on him, this will be the year he breaks out. I wouldn't be shocked if he was a top-5 TE this year and he can be easily obtained as a TE2. He's probably my favorite of the bunch.

No.On one hand, he's been getting the ball thrown his way a fair amount. On the other hand, he's still been dropping it. He was acting mature for a long while in camp, but even that fell through and Gore called him out. Vernon can block, but he's a bust other than that. As a Niner homer I hope he blows up but don't count on it.

Think he'll come back the same? The injury may have let him drop off the radar again.
