Aunt Jemima. Uncle Ben’s. Now Eskimo Pies. When will Redskins change their name? (1 Viewer)

So, now the former Skins are just known as the "Washington Football Team" on my fantasy site, which means the automated blurbs like "Titan's Derrick Henry signs deal" or "Ravens' Lamar Jackson practicing with receivers", where they just automatically plug in Team/Player Name now reads like "Football Team signs Ryan Lewis" or "Football Team's Kyle Allen may benefit from schedule" :lmao:
What a mess of an organization. You would have thought there would have been research and a backup plan established a 20 years ago on this. How can they possibly be caught off guard by this? Also, why not just Hogs or Red Hogs or Wild Hogs? They already have the whole hog thing as part of their history and team culture. Its just an incompetent franchise that happens to be in a business that basically prints money.

Think there's any truth to the rumor that they did have a backup plan, but, their organization is so screwed up they let the trademark expire on the backup name and now the new holder is extorting them for it?
That wouldn't surprise me and honestly, I am not sure which scenario is more dysfunctional.

Ding ding ding. Winner winner your favorite dinner.

Snyder seems to me the exact kind of guy who was dragged kicking and screaming by his PR department to create a backup plan just for some semblance of credibility, but never lift a single finger to actually do anything beyond that and be so adamant against changing the team's name in the face of common sense or pressure that his backup plan completely left his mind the moment it was put in place.

There are so many name options it really does not matter.

The Washington Warthogs. Sounds a little weird, but it's alliterative and readily shortened to "Hogs". People would get used to it.
