Austin Collie (1 Viewer)

What is everyone's opinion on Collie if he practices all week? Dodds projections are extremely low and Bloom has him listed as a boarderline #2.

Jax is a great matchup for Indy and Collie has been productive all year when healthy.

Are people down on him thinking that since Garcon is healthy he won't get as many looks?

I love him this week. I see him good for at least 4 catches. Maybe something like 4 catches, 60 yards, 1 TD......and that's low end.

I think people are down on him more for the concussion issues than the presence of Garcon. I saw Bloom's projections too and it made me rethink whether I should use Collie as a flex start this week. Looking around for other opinions, below is what Rotoworld has to say

Colts WR Collie returns to full practice Weds

Austin Collie (concussions) returned to a full practice Wednesday.

It looks like he's going to play against the Jags, relegating rookie Blair White to the bench. If Collie does make it through a full week without setbacks, White will be worth dropping in most fantasy leagues. Though Collie hasn't completed four quarters of a football game since the early portion of the season, his matchup and environment can't be beaten as a WR3 play. Dec. 15 - 4:30 pm et
Collie was fearless when he came back, but obviously it was too soon as he got pulled again with concusson issues after getting 5 catches for 60 yards. Obviously they are going to be monitoring him closely and the question is how much will he be allowed to play in game? I am leaning towards the rolling the dice with him as my flex starter as I like the matchup at home against the Jags and my other options are not that great. I am curious what other Collie owners are doing.

Have to choose between Collie, Seattle Mike Williams and J Stewart in my flex. FBG erally down on Stewart too who plays the 30th ranked ARizona run D.

Have to say I am baffled at the projections right now.

Yep, Collie becoming a player this week makes things tough for me, too.

Might have to bench Hines Ward for Collie, and Hines had a very good game last week, but has the Jets this week.

This sucks.

Me too, but it is not usual to see them a bit off this early in the week on some players, and they tend to correct as we approach the weekend. I think Stewart will be bumped up and they may just be overly cautious on Collie (but not without good reason).

Yep, seems like there are some pretty dramatic changes each week but a few years ago everyone was clamoring for earlier projections for waiver purposes so they gave those people what they wanted. You can't have it both ways I guess. If I had one FBG wish it would be to have Dodds and or Bloom open a thread each week regarding projections. People could post questions and then he could answer a few each week. I can find AT LEAST 5 or 10 weekly write ups on the website that I could live without. If each of them took an hour of their time answering questions on a WEdnesday night or Thursday afternoon I think it would be very useful.

I think they have been extra careful with Collie with the setback in the NE game fresh in their minds. If he continues to fully practice without setbacks, I would start him with confidence. The Jags at home are a juicy matchup and Manning has shown he will immediately go back to Collie after an injury absence.

This news is just adding to the confusion with my wrs. Garcon, Maclin, Britt, VJax, Stevie J. I want to wait and see with Collie but I have vjax ,maclin and britt in my lineup now. How much will they limit Collie in this game? Is he another hit away from leaving the game early?

From CBS:

Collie looks like a Week 15 go

Austin Collie, WR IND

News: Colts coach Jim Caldwell said Thursday that WR Austin Collie (concussion) should play in Week 15 against the Jaguars.“He looks good, and looks like he's going to be able to play,” Caldwell said.

Analysis: Collie has been practicing in full this week and while it's good to see him back feeling better, he will be a risky start in Fantasy play because of the nature of this injury and the fact he already left one game early. Continue to follow his progress the rest of this week. When healthy, Collie can be a must-start Fantasy option.

============

Okay, now that it looks like he's playing who has the stones to start him?

I have VJax, Maclin and Ward as my current starters with Collie, Obomanu and Manngingham on my bench. No way I'm playing Obomanu and Manningham. So it comes down to playing Collie over Ward. My opponent has Colston, DJax and Britt. I am seriously considering Collie over Ward as of now.

Probably starting Collie over Stevie and Chad Johnson... I need a game changer and he has the highest ceiling of those guys IMO.

Looking at Blair White's numbers from last week was enough for me to play Collie. I can see Collie with a similar stat line in PPR leagues and hopefully a TD

If he plays a full game, I think Collie is set up for a pretty good statistical performance. Jacksonville always focuses their defense on limiting deep passes, so Wayne and Garcon will have a tough time finding room deep, but Collie and Tamme should have plenty of room underneath. As an added bonus, the Jacksonville secondary isn't very good. The Colts might even have a decent rushing day. One caveat: the Colts probably won't run as many plays as usual, so the stats will be a little down across the board.

Excellent offer. Thanks. I may just take you up on it.

Considering that Austin Collie has not made in through a game since Week 6 I just don't trust him. If he is healthy and can survive a full game then there is no doubt that he puts up good numbers, but with such a big game I can't trust him.

Garcon to the bench. Too many other places for the ball to go.VJax, Britt, White in...
White had more targets than Garcon last week. How did that work out for Garcon? Unless you're predicting Collie to get targets in the teens this week...?

I would say this is more a specific reflection on your perceived chances in your match up and other options on your roster.Collie probably has a much higher ceiling than most options sitting on teams' rosters. If you are an underdog or needing a bunch of points to have a chance, I would say roll with Collie.

Starting any player (with the exception of studs) is usually situation specific but more caution needs to be exercised this week given the stakes involved. While Collie was a Fantasy star earlier this year, he did not carry his owners to the playoffs - and consequently most probably had have two serviceable WRs for weekly starters or they woudn't be in their playoffs now.

For many, the decision will be whether or not to use Collie is as a flex starter. I agree that a decided underdog in their matchup is better off to roll with Collie given the high upside. For those is a close contest, the possibility of him getting a goose egg is a risk probably not worth taking - so a safer choice with a lower ceiling would be in order.

I think you are focusing too much on how Collie has let you down this year. The fact is that when Collie is healthy, he produces and he puts up very good numbers. He also has a very good matchup this week. He's a solid #2 WR in my eyes.

And that is the issue - how healthy is he really? Many of his owners (and the Colts coaching/medical staff) thought he was healthy when he came back the first time, but obviously that was not the case. Is he coming back too soon again? How many blows to the head will it take before he has concussion number three for the season? He is probably OK, but no one can say for sure how this will play out. Sorry I have to disagree that he is solid #2 WR material. That said, I like him well enought that I am starting him in one of four leagues, and leaning strongly in another - however there is still considerable risk here IMO.

If he's playing he's in my lineup. Would be the first time this year I have the combo of Nicks, Rice, Collie and Bess in my lineup. Been a long rough year for me with injuries (Also lost Avery, Gore and Finley) but made it this far.

Thanks Guys!!! I've read enough and have no fear to start Collie over Steve Johnson. I have Peyton to boot too giving me the combo start. While Collie is ranked #50 and Johnson #19 on FBG....both are ranked respectively #23 and #24 on Rotoworld. Reading between the lines...Collie has a great QB with a great matchup and Stevie, now being the #1 with Evans out has the #6 pass D with a QB who can be good but has played suspect of late. The only question with Johnson is...will he get more in garbage time? With Peyton working out his Brett Farve-itis interception syndrome Indy needs his pinpoint flawless accuracy to win. Goin with Peyton, Bradshaw, McCoy, Nicks, DJax, Collie, V Davis, Suisham and CLE D for the ride into the championship! And that is my final answer!!

I have to roll with Collie....now have to decide one of Best/B. Lloyd/M. Austin....All are on big downswings. Thinking Austin is safest bet, but kind of like Best against TB.
