Avery's injury status? (1 Viewer)

Dexter Manley

Am assuming WR Avery STL will start. What's the chance of him aggravating his shoulder injury again and having to leave early like he did on his td catch last week?

The Lions are a juicy mathchup.

Looking for serious answers only. I didn't get to see the game last week. All I know is he had to leave after his catch which I saw.

Does anyone have any actual insight as to what type of shoulder injury it is and historically speaking what the chances are of players having to leave the game early with said injury?

For example, A. Brashaw is hurt, but it's the type of injury which he can keep playing through and not have to leave the game.

Had Avery in my lineup as a bye-week #3 WR, but on the LIons pregame they just reported that Avery is active but WILL NOT START.

Can anyone confirm this?

I'm looking at other options now...

In all seriousness this is a really poor effort completely inappropriate for the Shark Pool.

You would think a guy that Dodd's has ranked AHEAD of Boldin in his projections this week would get the same respect as Boldin in the Shark Pool on gameday.

Everyone knows Boldin is going to play even though he's listed as questionable.

In fact, I'd be more surprised that Avery doesn't play today than Boldin, even though he's listed as probable, for an injury that he couldn't return to the game in LAST week.

Thanks for the info Renegade. I have no idea. That's why I created this thread and I was assuming he would start lol.

Confirmed, he will only be in 41% of the plays this week.

They just said they'd be back with the starting lineups after the commercial break, so I'll wait it out and post.

This joke is getting old, some of us have lineup decisions to make in regards to Avery. With all the joking around it's hard to determine if there's any facts at all in this thread. Is Avery really out of the starting line-up? Is their a reason Dodds has him ranked higher than Boldin? I want to see some real info, not the same joke rehashed 10 times.

I think the OPs wording created the joke. What's the chance that anyone gets injured in any game? I'd think most if not all players are playing with injuries by now. I'm also looking for Avery info...but that's a funny question to ask. Coming from Dexter Manley made it even better.

ESPN reports he is starting (and playing obv).FWIW it wasn't his shoulder IIRC, after the score two weeks ago he went out with a Hip injury.

They teased the starting lineups coming up after the break again on the Lions pregame... as soon as they come back and announce it, I'll confirm whether he's in or out of the starting lineup.I'm almost positive they said earlier he will not be in the starting lineup, but I'll confirm momentarily.I benched him for Breaston (with a tough matchup vs the CAR pass D) for what it's worth.

The reason he outranks Boldin is that Boldin is a 47% chance of injury this week.

The initial start to the thread was poorly written. Nobody knows how long someone may go or what percent of the game someone will last since they were injured last week.I also don't understand the whole "Dodds has him ranked higher than Boldin" correlation. Who cares if he's ranked higher than Boldin by one guy, I don't get it.If a guy left the game last week due to an injury, he was probably pretty tender. He was limited in practice this week but the matchup versus the Lions for many is worth the start. I can't remember too many hits over the last few years the Lions have given to opposing WR's to knock them out of the game. Consider Avery a WR 2 or strong WR3 type player for this week.

I know about the hip. Last week he hurt his shoulder. That's what FOX has him as probable with too.

You haven't told me anything I didn't already know before I posted the thread.

The Boldin correlation was brought up because Avery isn't a sticky up top like Boldin is so we must wade through the jokes on this thread. I'm aware the OP left himself open the way he worded the first post, I just don't see why people repeat the same joke over and over again, it was funny the first time, not the 10th time. I'm starting Avery w/o confidence today!

So you knew you were writing a thread that was poorly written and did it anyway? I'll go along with the SP Schtick 41 percent sound about right.

COme on, third straight segment they've said starting lineups after the break... now it's 5 minutes to 1:00... might not be enough time by the time I get confirmation.

It was in good fun. Sorry if it actually pissed anyone off.

Yes. And if you can't understand what my OP meant then you probably shouldn't be posting in the Shark Pool.11:10 am on gameday. There's no thread about Avery. I chose to post the thread as is rather than taking an extra minute to rewrite it.

$#%&! After all that, they only gave the Lions' starters. My bad.

I'm not starting Avery after hearing earlier he won't start. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong.

Basically, I wanted to know if it's the type of injury that he can play through as long as he can handle the pain and it won't get worse (i.e. Ochocinco last year) or if it's the type of injury that he can be forced to leave the game (like last week) with one hard hit on said shoulder reaggravating said injury.

Looked it up in the gamebook, and Avery did indeed start... so the Lions pregame was wrong. He ended up being targeted six times, but only had 1 catch for 15 yards.
