B Dawkins missing a lot of time (1 Viewer)

Brian Dawkins hasn't practiced in a week due to Achilles' tendinitis.

Dawkins also missed much of minicamp season. The Eagles' free safety ran sprints on the side Wednesday, so he should be back on the field shortly.

He missed mini-camp because of premature twins.

Hadn't heard about the achillies but I think he knows the defensive schemes. So he isn't missing much

It's inevitable, but not sure if this is the year time catches up with him. I do find it interesting that the Iggles drafted a "replacement" for McNabb before getting one for Dawkins. Maybe they know something?

They drafted a possible replacement for Dawkins this year in CJ Gaddis.

I am one who isn't worried about Dawkins for at least a couple of years. He doesn't seem to have lost anything to me.
Granted he doesn't seem to have lost much but I tend to tread lightly on 34-year old DB's.

How has Gaddis looked?
Don't know. He's still listed as the backup FS on the team page, but Quintin Mikell was getting some nice pub after filling in for Dawkins during the preseason games. Johnson's aggressive scheme, particularly the FS role, isn't an easy role to learn. Gaddis, who played a lot of corner in college, may have a ways to go before he's trusted to be in the right place at the right time.

Mikell has looked decent.I have noticed Paschal more than I have noticed Gaddis in the games I have seen. I know they were both in at the same time but I'm not sure which was SS & FS

during the trotter presser yesterday a reporter asked dawkins something along the lines of "have you thought about this day coming in the future" his response was we have 4 more years before we will have to worry about that

Mikell >>> Gaddis.

Mikell has been a ST standout, and played well for them last year in the lineup at times - came up huge on a few goal line stands. He just inked an extension this off-season.

Gaddis might turn into something, but it's unknown.
