B J Askew Super Sleeper? (1 Viewer)

With Graham out of the way and with the uncertainty surrounding Cadillac Williams, maybe Askew gets his chance to shine. At the very least he should get the goal line carries, making him a viable TD vulture in the coming weeks.

Coach Jon Gruden suggested that FB B.J. Askew could take on a bigger ball-carrying role now that Earnest Graham (ankle) is lost for the year.

With Graham out of Sunday's game early, Askew vultured a third-quarter goal-line touchdown and might be Tampa Bay's new short-yardage back. Cadillac Williams has never been trusted in the role and Warrick Dunn is on the small side for it. Askew could be worth a look in touchdown-only leagues. Source: Tampa Tribune

I think it's all Dunn this week. Just my gut
No doubt about it between the 20s, but I think Askew is the guy at the goal line. Should "done" go down, or is ineffective, Askew could get some additional carries.

I agree with you here. TB is already weakened at the RB position and Askew will most likely be used down on the goal line, esp. @ a weak Lions team. Gruden may want to keep Dunn from being banged up so I wouldnt be suprised if Askew got some chances.

Teams do not need a goal line back vs the Lions, most rushing TDs against the Lion are usually 10-35 yards out.

I would not be suprised to see Dunn score a couple from the 10-20 yard range.

Dunn has been nicked this season, missing a game or two .... Askew has just as good a chance being a week 12-16 stud as E Graham did in 2007 IMO

If you askme I don`t think Askew has the skills to be a FF stud. IMHO

He just hasn't been given the chance. Check out the OAK-NYJ game from 05 when Askew single-handedly carried the offense down the field to ice the game. Askew played some tailback when Chris Perry went down at Michigan, and did very well. He's also a good receiver and short yardage runner. Askew has said he wanted to play RB in the NFL. The potential is there if he's given a chance.

I agree..I saw him at Michigan. I was just looking for a way to throw that joke in.

a stud , no, probably not ....... but a week 11-16 guy who's on a team that is desperate for RB's, behind a small W Dunn who rarely gets the goal line carries and in front of a Caddy that still isn't ready to go ....... 10-15 touches and 50-70 yards a week + a TD is a very nice reward for the risk involved in picking him up on waivers you know ?I can use him in every league I'm going into the playoffs if the chips fall just right and he becomes a weekly impact RB - can't you ?

If you have a void in your roster, and are looking to pick up a FA that could possibly score 10 pts then he is a great option.

super sleeper? lol. at best he is a very very risky emergency plug-n-play. if you dont have better options your already out of the FF playoff picture, go back to work, there's always next year.

Just because someone makes a reference to a potential sleeper, doesn't mean that he has to play him. Once upon a time Ryan Grant was a no name, buried on the depth chart player. It took a trade to make him relevant. So think about that the next time you reply to one of these type of threads, smart guy

Clifton Smith is the super sleeper here.
You mean the guy who's fumbled like 3 times in 4 touches, or something like that?
I still think Clifton Smith has more long term potential.
I'm not sure why you think that, but IMO neither has long term potential, but I'll take my chances on Askew for now. I may change my mind in a few hours
I agree that neither has much long term potential, but if I had to choose I would say Clifton. My reasoning would be because BJ is always hurt, and Clifton Smith is still young. Despite his egregious fumbling issue Gruden still uses the guy, and chose to roster him over Bennet. He does run hard, but again he can't fumble. That problem can be fixed though, see Tiki & Michael Pittman.
