B. Jacobs in 08 and 09 (1 Viewer)

Any NYG homers have any insinde scoop on the future prospect of either Jacobs or Wards? What are the odds Jacobs is with another team this year. Is there any team in the league that gives Ward a shot as a feature back next year? Are the Giants that team after they show Jacobs the door?

I know Jacobs has looked good this year and he has run over some people that have made highlights. But in the games I have watched, Ward has looked awesome! I own both and at this point I think Ward is the better player to have as a feature RB. He does nothing spectaculer but he does everything very well

I think a lot depends on what the contract demands of both Ward and Jacobs are at the end of this year and whether one of them gets hurt again. Both backs have a history of getting banged up/injured. Jacobs is young but Ward is 28 so do the Giants want to sign Jacobs to a larger, longer term contract OR maybe pay a little less for Ward who does appear to be a more complete RB (pass catching & 3rd down RB) knowing that he won't have the longevity that Jacobs would have due to him being several years older. Also, Bradshaw has looked good in his limited time so whether it's a matter of having 3 talented backs on the roster or the fact that the O-line is one of the best in the league is another thing to take into consideration. If the Giants feel the RBs are producing because of the O-line, they might choose to throw more money at retaining their current O-linemen and let both Jacobs and Ward go (especially if their contract demands are outrageous). It's a riskier move but if they feel anyone can run behind that line, then they might consider Bradshaw and Ware as their future RBs in 09. Anyone know where the Giants stand in terms of their salary cap going forward, considering the money they threw at Plaxico this past off-season?

I own Jacobs and love his production so far. I am concerned about him getting hurt though. I don't know if he can stay healthy.

I actually just traded BJ away.

1. His schedule coming up is against some of the better D's out there.

2. I hate watching him split carries with Ward and others.

3. I have some other backs in my start 2RB league that have easier schedules.

4. I traded him to a guy who already has Ward, and got a top 5 WR for him.

I just did the same for the reasons above.

Yards are more important than TD's in this start 2RB,3WR,2Flex league, so that was another factor

I packaged him with Reggie Brown and got back Colston (who I see as top5 WR the rest of the way) and McFadden (which is an upgrade on Reggie Brown).

Traded due to injury history/splitting carries even when healthy/SOS

8 @PIT #2

9 DAL #7

10 @PHI #10

11 BAL #1

12 @ARI #11

13 @WAS #6

14 PHI #10

15 @DAL #7

16 CAR #15

I got Colston as well. He and Larry Fitz should give me a nice ROI this year
